Walt Disney's It's a Small World of Fun 2

Five stars (*****) for the cartoons, but we already have most of them on DVD, Crazy With the Heat makes a debut here. You may want to buy this for that one cartoon unless you never picked up any of the other Disney Treasures DVDs.

VOLUME TWO

PEDRO (previously made available on as a part of the "Saludos Amigos" DVD)
Papa Plane and Mama Plane ferry mail over the Andes mountains, but one day both Mama and Papa Plane get sick and can't go. Little Pedro is called on, and despite a big condor, a bigger mountain and a very big storm, Pedro saves the day.

THE OLYMPIC CHAMP (previously made available on "Walt Disney Treasures: The Complete Goofy" DVD)
Goofy gives his own hilarious history of the Olympics in this comical look at the famous sporting event. Goofy demonstrates, as only he can, hurdles, pole vaulting, discus, javelin throwing and more.

PETER AND THE WOLF (previously made available as part of the "Make Mine Music" DVD)
The tale of Peter and the Wolf is told with superb Disney animation and musical accompaniment. Peter goes hunting for a large wolf with a duck, cat and a bird, but the wolf turns out to be a lot harder to catch than Peter first realized.

THE BRAVE LITTLE TAILOR (previously made available on "Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Living Color" and "The Sword in the Stone" DVDs)
In medieval times Mickey plays a little tailor who is mistaken for a giant killer. The king appoints Mickey to destroy a nearby giant, with the prize being the hand of the fair princess Minnie. Mickey has to use his brains to outwit the giant's brawn.

CRAZY WITH THE HEAT (NEW TO DVD, but announced to be on the "Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald 3" DVD release December 11 2007)
Donald and Goofy run out of gas while traveling through the desert, and start to see mirages.

SUSIE, THE LITTLE BLUE COUPE (previously made available as bonus feature on "The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad" [you have to win the Mr.Toad Road Game to view it] and "The Love Bug" DVDs)
Susie, in an auto showroom, is bought by a man who takes good care of her but as time passes she grows older and her owner trades her in. She has a succession of unfortunate owners who mistreat her, and just as she is about to be abandoned in a junkyard, an eager young man buys here, tinkers with her, and soon has her running again.

I bought this DVD for the "Peter and the Wolf" animated short. It's everythind I remembered it to be, and it's everything that I wanted. The rest is gravy. I do remember some of the other cartoons from my childhood, especially "Pedro" and "Susie the little blue Coupe", which I read is what the chracters in the Pixar movie "Cars" were based on. I wish that Disney would either include a few more features on each DVD or release more DVD titles like these with a variety of shorts, or if not, then reduce the price a little. Otherwise, a very worthwhile purchase.

This movie has a lot of classic and fun tales that include favorite characters as well as some different ones we knew in the past.

It's A Small World of Fun is a delightful collection of Disney short films, none of which ever made acclaim in their day, but which today's viewer should find quaint and refreshing. THE BRAVE LITTLE TAILOR pits Mickey against the somewhat inept giant after he kills seven flies in one blow, PETER AND THE WOLF gives orchestral accompaniment to the narration, THE OLYMPIC CHAMP has Goofy demonstrating various Olympic events as only he can, CRAZY WITH HEAT has Goofy paired with Donald Duck as the two get themselves out of the desert, and SUSIE, THE LITTLE BLUE COUPE follows the life and exploits of an anthropomorphized automobile, while PEDRO does the same for a small South American aircraft. Relive the time when cartoons were entertaining without being gory or sensational.

Excellent item, bought back a lot of memories of Disney's older cartoons and the phenomenal quality of the hand made production techniques used at that time.

I bought this DVD especially because I wanted my niece to see Peter and the Wolf. She loved it. The other cartoons were a great bonus.

On May 16 get ready to see an all new fun collection of Disney shorts named It's A Small World Of Fun, Volume Two. The animated shorts on this disc are Pedro (1943), The Olympic Champ (1946), The Brave Little Tailor (1938), Susie The Little Blue Coupe (1952), Peter And The Wolf (1946) and Crazy With The Heat (1947). The run time is fifty-six minutes. There are no introductions or bonus features for this DVD. This DVD may be played in French.
