Gr. 3-5, younger for reading aloud. It's hard not to be charmed by the story of Lady, a high-class cocker spaniel from the right side of the tracks, and the rakish ne'er-do-well mutt, Tramp. Although its original incarnation as a Disney full-length cartoon, especially notable for its soundtrack, is the vehicle of first choice for the tale, this adaptation from the film is quite good. Strasser maintains the movie's lighthearted mood, and the dialogue (presumably taken from the movie) is brisk and moves the story right along. High points are the many full-color illustrations that have the feel of stills from the movie. Lady and the Tramp's legion of fans will enjoy this.
