4.0 out of 5 stars Rob Roy - The Highland Rogue by Disney, December 10, 2004
When German-born King George I ascends to the throne of England, he appoints as Secretary of State the villianous Duke of Montrose. Montrose's first evil order of business is to suppress the rowdy MacGregor clan and insure their allegiance to the new king. But the devious Secretary of the State underestimates the fervent Scottish pride running deep in the veins of fiery Highlander Rob Roy and his quick-tempered compatriots! An epic, legendary adventure filled with action, conflict, and a dose of bonny romance!
Running time - Approximately 84 minutes. Color
Great for all ages, and historical in its outlook of time in old England.

4.0 out of 5 stars A stirring Scottish adventure, September 4, 2008
THE STORY: Rob Roy MacGregor (Richard Todd) constantly avoids capture by the British in this period piece, and even captures Inversnaid Fort.

BEHIND THE SCENES & TRIVIA: This was the 4th in a series of live action films shot in England, during a period when the Disney Studio assets could not be taken out of that country due to the economic devastation England suffered during the war. Walt's solution to this was to set up a semi-permanent team from the late 1940's to 1954, who were responsible for producing "Treasure Island", "The Story of Robin Hood", and the "Sword and the Rose", before starting this new film. Richard Todd was a lead actor in the last 3 of the films, along with other cast and crew that shared credits on all of the films. Directed by Harold French. Mate painting by Peter Ellenshaw who was hired in England to work on the first film and stayed on with Disney to receive the Academy Award ® for Special Effects for his work on Mary Poppins. The authentic "Scottish Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders" appeared in the film as the British soldiers.
Released to theatres on February 4, 1954 in glorious Technicolor at 83 minutes in length. It later aired as a two episode title on ABC television's "Walt Disney Presents Disneyland" on October 3 and 10, 1956.
