I received this book when I was a child, in the 1960s. I would pull it out on a nothing-to-do day and spend hours poring over it. I still have that copy, and still love it. The photos are delightful. This book is a must for any cat lover.

A friend who knew I had cats recommended this book. Although apparently long out of print, I was able to find a copy in very good condition through a used bookseller here at Amazon. My friend was right: this book is a wonderful addition to a household with cats. It's not heavy on text; in fact, after the opening few pages, where author Walter Chandoha talks briefly and in general about his experiences with cats, he steps back and lets his wonderful black and white photographs take over. And do they ever! The book is a joy to look at, as Chandoha has photographed the majority of his subjects just going about their daily routines. There is, however, one staged set of pictures that would warm the heart of any cat lover: about halfway through the book, Chandoha has staged a series of photos featuring a baby and an adult tabby cat that are absolutely precious. I dare say that series of photos alone makes the price I paid for the book (which was very reasonable, I might add) completely worth it! If you love cats, you'll love Walter Chandoha's Book of Kittens and Cats.
