This CD has it all.Power emotion and spine tingling guitar playing of the highest order.Walter Trout is an awesome songwriter and this CD shows it with a fantastic range of Blues styles.Hard heavy or light Walter Trout delivers the goods on this album. 3.0 out of 5 stars Flashy and Dull
I've owned this CD for several years and just pulled it out recently to see if I was missing anything. Not really. At least on this disc, Trout sounds pretty much the same on every cut -- same white-boy mildly growly voice, same flashy but repetitive, lick-laden Strat (and the same licks over and over), same unmemorable songs. Oh, he can play his guitar, sure, but he's...

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific, January 12, 2001

I am a died in the wool blues player and listener. When I first heard Walter I was in a panic to find out who this guy was. His guitar and vocal talents are as good as any I've heard. If you love the blue's like I do this is a collectors must. Walter is going to be around for a long time and will be a household name for all serious blues followers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not his best, February 20, 2003

Walter Trout is one of the best however this album is not. There are a mixture of superb and some so so tracks. My belief is that it is mostly a choice of songs that is the problem. Walter is a fine guitarist with a fairly good voice as illustrated by 'Got a broken heart', 'Obstacles', 'Hard time blues' and others but there are also many tracks which pale in significance such as "Marie's Mood" or "In love with you again" which are something out of a 50's pop album rather than a blues based offering. My personal favourite Walter Trout CD is the John Mayall "Life in the Jungle" live album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Without a doubt the best blues guitarist alive., January 8, 1999
This review is from: Walter Trout (Audio CD)
Walter Trout and his band have been shaking up the blues scene for many years and this CD shows the range this man can take his love of blues. Southern California and Europe have been aware of his great talents of song writing, guitar playing, vocals and harmonica for a long time. When you hear this CD you will know what you have been missing so check out his CDs that didn't get released in the US. AND you must, you must, see him play this stuff in person to believe someone can be so good live. Just be ready to dance. His tour schedule is on his web site.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great album, but, see him live if you can., March 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Walter Trout (Audio CD)
This album gives a fine representation of Walter Trout as a player, vocalist and songwriter. It does , however fail to capture the energy and excitement of Walter live. We saw him at a club in Huntinton Beach in the spring of 98 and he absolutely knocked me out. I dont think I've seen this kind of guitar playing since Roy Buchanan in the mid 70's. If you have an oppurtunity to see him live don't miss it.

The absolute best in "white boy" blues. Words can't describe the power, energy and raw talent of Trout. Play this CD loud!

If you like the blues, you need to own a copy of Walter Trout. I liked this CD so much that I bought his "Rentless" CD as well and was not dissapointed with it either. Great guitar player, great sound!
