4.0 out of 5 stars Very good gun
I bought the Walther CP99 Compact about 1 weeks ago from Pyramid Air. I also bought with it the Walther Laser Sight. Had the gun and laser within 3 days of ordering it. That's fast!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wondering what will happen next-Fingers crossed.
Had this for about two months and returned for faulty performance. Slide stuck in forward position. Paid to ship to Umarex. Piston ring replaced free, including return. Have it now for three months. Problem now is with slide that does not open after last shot. It still functions, but I have to check to see if chamber is indeed empty. Not a good situation. Piece works...

I bought the Walther CP99 Compact about 1 weeks ago from Pyramid Air. I also bought with it the Walther Laser Sight. Had the gun and laser within 3 days of ordering it. That's fast!
Overall opinion of this gun is amazing. It is so realistic both in appearance and weight. With the laser and full CO2 this thing has the weight of a real handgun, maybe a little under. It is great looking and fits perfectly in my hands (a little on the smaller side, but feels great). The gun has recoil which is a sweet feature. It has a cocker/decocker (slide moves back and forth) and the slide locks back when you are out of BB's, just like a real gun. It has a drop out magazine that holds 18 .177 Steel BB's (Copper works too). The magazine release is located by the trigger. It is an ambedextrous release, in that you press down on both sides. The magazine itself is a little on the skinny side, but that doesn't seem like it will be a problem. It is very sturdy. At times its takes a second to get the magazine lined up so you can slide it back in, but once you get used to it it's not a problem.

The CO2 reservoir is accessed by popping the plate off the back of the grip. It is powered by 12 gram CO2 cartridges. Before I bought this gun I read alot of reviews and it seemed that alot of people had a hard time getting the CO2 in. The CO2 itself slides in easily. Always remember to put some RWS Chamber Lube on the top of the CO2 cartridge before putting it in. Tightening the inner screw seemed to pose a problem to alot of people, but I got that tightened fine. The problem I had was tightening the knob on the bottom of the gun. You have to screw it to the right to open the CO2 screw, then to the left to put it on "power". I had to take a pair or plyers with a piece of cloth covering the knob so you don't scratch it and turn it to get it all the way turned and lined back up with the guns shape. You have to fully turn it or else the magazine won't slide out. Overall, its not that big of a deal, and maybe after a little wear it will become easier. Either way, this is a very small flaw in a gun so reasonably priced.

The other issue I've heard is with the design of the safety. I was able to take it off safety with one hand and no trouble. Doing it alot with one hand in a short period of time starts to hurt. It is easily taken off with two hands by using right thumb to push one of the tabs back then lifting up on the lever. This is something very petty to complain about...

As for firepower, this baby has some kick in it. It is also pretty loud. The recoil feature is awesome, giving you an idea of what a real gun would be like. The gun has good accuracy from what I have seen so far. As i said, I've only owned the gun for a few days, and I havent got to do all that much shooting with it.

The Laser Sight, also made by Walther provides great accuracy after you get it aligned correctly. Defintely a good buy for $25.00. It doesn't take away from the guns look at all. It adds to the realism.

Overall, I'd give the Walther CP99 Compact 4 out of 5 stars. It is an amazing gun for the price. I reccommend buying it with the Walther CP99 Compact Laser Sight (also available from Pyramid Air), 2 extra magazines and a bottle of RWS Chamber Oil (available from IronAim LLC). You will defintely want some extra magazines as it takes about 30 seconds to load a magazine. All together you can put about $130.00 (not including shipping) in this gun and it will be great. I defintely wouldn't reccommend this gun for anyone under 16. I do believe that you could hurt someone with this thing if you tried. I defintely wouldn't want to have this gun out in public, people could defintely mistake this for a real thing, absolutely INCLUDING the Police.

That about wraps it up. You can't go wrong with this gun. It is powerful and very realistic and a great buy. I think when I get the extra money I might get the original Walther CP99, or the Walther Nighthawk. Hope this helped potential buyers. Thanks!

4.0 out of 5 stars great fun!, February 13, 2009

I found it to be acceptably accurate. It does need some sight paint. As long as you don't let it get too cold it works reliably. I found with copperhead bb's if you take up the slack on the trigger the bb's would often roll out the barrel.
A small price to pay, this has made me want the real Walther p99 compact in 9mm. Its about 6 times more expensive, so this is a good deal. Get a 50 pack of co2's zinc steel bb's and extra clips.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great with a little hickup, March 11, 2010

I found this pistol to be a very realistic and fun to shoot pistol. It is very accurate and is very comfortable in the hand. The blowback action is also very realistic and just like the real thing, the slide must be racked in order to fire. Unlike the real thing, you have to rack the slide each and every time you take it off safety. It does not actually chamber anything by racking, it simply allows the CO2 to activate. Applying the safety deactivates the CO2 and the slide must be racked again once the safety is turned off. One hickup to this pistol is the effort it takes to get a CO2 cartridge to seal. Once the internal screw is tightened to take up the slack, the locking pivot on the bottom only rotates a limited amount to both pierce the cartridge and align into place. I have two of these and both require additional "effort" via a pair of needle nose pliers or a small flat blade screw driver to tighten the inner screw enough to allow the locking pivot to do it's job without CO2 leakage. A dissapointing extra effort required every single time. Verified on both my pistols. If you can deal with this, the price / quality ratio is one of the best available!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good...Just bought another, May 14, 2011

Good air gun but found a cheaper one at PyramidAir.com! Note: where some reviews state to grease CO2 cartridge with oil prior to installing...do it once and never again! Placing oil on the CO2 tip makes it easier to twist on but it weakens the seal on the gun and does not hold the compression anymore, wasting a CO2 cartridge!! Now the gun I bought from Amazon needs to be RMA'd from Umarx USA and I will have to pay for the shipping to and from the company if I want it fixed. I might but I just bought another from the other company cuz the gun is a good one and its cheaper to buy one than the shipping to/from Hawaii.

This is a heavy piece. You wouldn't know that you have an air pistol in your hands. I'd give this a 5 of 5, but it has one flaw: With the clip in and loaded, the BBs' will roll one by one out of the barrel if it is leaned forward. I just leave the clip slightly out, and push it in before use.

The slide stays open like a real auto when you're out of ammo (BBs')...Pretty cool. Shoots well, and delivers quite an impact. I would still purchase this again, if I had to choose again from the pistols available.

I give this gun a 5 out of 5! from the pumping action, weight, design, is like having the real thing! My son and myself cannot stop from shooting this gun. A pretty powerful BB gun and I do not recommend for inexperienced users like kids below 13. Overall this gun is awesome. Please do not bring this with you outside your house as it looks like the real thing and might be mistaken for the real thing!

Piece works great, however. It is accurate at 20 yards and marksmanship has improved significantly. I really like shooting it in the back yard.It is powerful and you should treat it like a real firearm. After about 3 mags, I can feel velocity diminishing. At that point, I can either replace the capsule or shoot Jello at 10 ft. Just kidding. If I had seen a review with similar experiences, I may not have purchased this model. Maybe you'll have better luck. It may be a lemon and I guess you take a chance with any co2 pistol.Contact me if you have any questions.

This P99 is the finest GBB bb pistol I have ever owned. Lots of metal with the weight of the real steel, hard kick, blowback action and a nice report. A wiinner throughout. A must have.
