5.0 out of 5 stars If you only want to own one Strauss recording...., November 19, 2001

This review is from: Waltzes & Polkas (Audio CD)
....this is a good choice. I really enjoyed these interpretations of Strauss's waltzes, polkas, and overtures. They are very crisp and up-tempo, yet expressive. I believe these renditions are very faithful to the festive mood that the composer intended. The title track, the overture to Die Fledermaus, is perfect, in my opinion. This is a very enjoyable CD to listen to, a very high standard both musically and technically. If you're trying to sort out a Strauss CD containing many of his familiar compositions from the many that are available, this one is highly recommended.
