5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album, March 30, 2008

Brilliant musicians and writers. The first track is especially fantastic. I love Rob's and Phoebe's voices. No one can play guitar like Marshall Hood. I love this record.

This is a great album. There is some Texas Swing reminiscent of Bob Wills, and some alt-country numbers too. I am excited about this band.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little bit of country, bluegrass and jazz in a fine debut album from a young Austin band, October 4, 2008
This review is from: Wanderin' (Audio CD)
At this year's Americana Music Conference in Nashville, I heard a lot of "buzz" about this Austin, TX based band. Unfortunately they had their showcase booked for the same time the huge Levon Helm- led "Ramble at the Ryman" and many folks - including me - missed their gig. But, listening to this CD from the band makes me want to now see them live. Their blend of "country swing" (think Bob Wills, gypsy jazz (think Hot Club of Paris with violinist Phoebe Hunt as Stephane Grapelli) and a bit of bluegrass and the Bellevilles have it covered. Co-lead vocalists Hunt and Rob Teter wrote most of the 12 tracks on this disc (there are two Walter Hyatt covers too) and their voices blend well together on duets but can hold their own when they take the solo lead. The rest of the band supports them well on piano, bass and drums.

From the photo on the album's cover the band members all appear to be in their 20s. Based on this debut CD, this is definitely a band to watch and a CD to check out.
