Book Description

June 2006
The enigmatic relationship between the Cathars and the Templars is explained. In the 13th century, the Catholic Church repressed the Cathars, who had settled in the French Pyrenees. The Cathars’ practices had some similarities with ancient Egyptian belief systems, including Dying Consciously, which was also at the heart of ancient Egyptian belief systems. Later, the Nazi Otto Rahn became interested in Catharism and sent investigators to France. They uncovered the ancient cave sanctuaries of the Cathars, and found statues of Egyptian gods! Was the Grail perhaps a sacred Egyptian artifact’ Here, for the first time, all the key elements of a timeless puzzle are pieced together.

Was Berenger Sauniere, the priest at the center of the enigma of Rennes-le-Chateau, controlled by a secret society’ Yes is the answer, but which one’ The group was known as the A.A., said to be the successor of the Compagnie de St. Sacrement, a 17th century secret society that was banned by King Louis XIV. Both were said to protect ‘the secret’, of such gigantic proportions that its nature has never been revealed. No member was able to divulge membership or what ‘the secret’ was, and when SauniŠre was questioned late in life: he remained silent. In this brilliant work of investigative research, the authors have uncovered a hidden dimension of the basilica of Notre Dame de Marceille. The same people who were involved with the Compagnie trying to lay their hands on this property in the 17th century. Why’ On the surface, the church is like any other, but it has a hidden dimension, which has been successfully kept underneath the church lies a secret underground complex, hidden for more than 500 years in which not only a monetary treasure was located, but which was also a pagan religious site which was once placed under the control of the Templars. After that group’s demise, both the Compagnie and SauniŠre and his handlers tried to get hold of this underground complex, and its monetary and religious treasure ‘ and of ‘the secret.’

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hidden History of Montségur, February 15, 2008

This review is from: The Wanderings of the Grail: The Cathars, the Search for the Grail and the Discovery of Egyptian Relics in the French Pyrenees (Paperback)
André Douzet is an energetic researcher who lives in the mysterious region (which I only visited last week!) His latest book succeeds in revealing further discoveries of a significant and puzzling nature. It is a compact and readable book that packs a punch. Because of its status as primary source material, and well reasoned, in contrast to many other rehash works it deserves 5 star rating -- not however indicating perfection. Important links to the work of Otto Rahn, Mr Lawrence (of Poussin Tomb fame) and Déodat Roché make this book essential reading for connoisseurs and addicts of The Mystery!

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read all the way through, October 14, 2009
This review is from: The Wanderings of the Grail: The Cathars, the Search for the Grail and the Discovery of Egyptian Relics in the French Pyrenees (Paperback)
The Holy Grail was searched for in medieval times, and believed to be a sacred relic of Christianity. "The Wanderings of the Grail: The Cathars, the Search for the Grail, and the Discovery of Egyptian Relics in the French Pyrenees" is a exploration of the idea that the Holy grail may have been holy to the Egyptian people as well, under the religion of the Cathars. This forgotten Cathar religion may have untold knowledge to the status of the grail, and author Andre Douzet pieces together what may be the answer to an ancient historical puzzle. "The Wanderings of the Grail" is an interesting read all the way through.
