How does this work?
Clicking the “Test drive now” button launches a copy of this app on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), a web service that provides on-demand compute capacity in the cloud for developers. When you interact with the simulated phone using your mouse and keyboard, we send those inputs over the Internet to the app running on Amazon EC2 — just like your mobile device would send a finger tap to the app. Our servers then send the video and audio output from the app back to your computer. All this happens in real time, allowing you to explore the features of the app as if it were running on your mobile device.

Let Urbanspoon choose your restaurant
Where Do You Want to Eat?

Casual diners and serious gourmets agree. Urbanspoon rocks. This handy website has been guiding hungry crowds to the best restaurants for the best deals, with its excellent descriptions, aggregated professional reviews, and candid diner evaluations. Urbanspoon is America's #1 trusted restaurant go-to site. Now you can carry the Power of the Spoon with you anywhere on your Android device.

Urbanspoon on the Go

Urbanspoon for Android has all the features you've grown to love on the website, with the added bonus of allowing you to harness your device's GPS to zero in on all restaurants in your vicinity. When you launch the app, get down to business by tapping Nearby. This brings up a list of all restaurants close to you. Tap on selection, and you'll get the straight dope on that restaurant, including its address, price range, phone number, location, message from the owner, collected professional reviews, and plenty of diner opinions. Chime in your two cents' worth by tapping I Like It or I Don't, which directly impacts the restaurant's percentage rating, and write up your own mini-review.

Get In My Belly

That's just the tip of the iceberg lettuce. You can locate the restaurants on a map within the app, so you'll always know precisely how to get there. Browse the restaurants by Urbanspoon's useful categories: Neighborhoods, Types of food, Features, Popular restaurants, Talk of the Town, and Top contributors. Within these categories are extensive categories. In Types of Food, for example, you can search through nearly 100 categories, from Afghan to Wine Bars.

Shake It Up And Spin

Of course, Urbanspoon for Android comes with the beloved restaurant slot machine. For those unfamiliar with this fiendishly useful device, the slot machine works like a Vegas slot machine, but everyone's a winner. First, choose a neighborhood or city, type of food, and price range within the three throws of the slot machine. Shake your phone, and watch your Android device randomly choose a restaurant for you. Don't like its choice? Shake it again for another random selection. This slot machine is perfection itself for those times when you just can't decide where to eat.

Right This Way, Sir!

Not only can Urbanspoon choose your restaurant, but it's also your personal maitre d'. Make reservations at local restaurants with a few simple taps, choosing the size of your part and the time. Urbanspoon will let you know if a table is available, and then make the reservation. And you don't even have to tip your phone twenty bucks. What's more, Urbanspoon isn't just limited to your city. Browse any city that the Spoon has staked out, from Albuquerque to Washington, D.C. So, what's for dinner?

1.0 out of 5 stars WTF! What is this thing? Paid advertisements? June 1, 2012
Geez, i looked for breakfast places ijn my home town of Boston MA, just to see if my favorites were even listed. what i got was a bunch of pre-digested reviews, One place had three identical reviews, can you say cut and paste? no way could i get a real review, or a decent menu, the dollar $$ signs have no meaning compared to the actual cost, one place has nothing over $10 bucks but is listed as four $$$$!
McDonald's as a breakfast place is not what i consider a meaningful option. but they list every one within 20 miles of me. The other "restaurant" is a Gay sports bar, they DO NOT serve food! let alone breakfast. I looked up a specific restaurant and the directions were not even close. Of the others ones i noted have been gone for about 4 months, not only is the place closed there is an actual hole in the ground preparing for a new hotel. I would have been really perturbed if i had taken their suggestion and went there without knowing that.
Use Google and put in "Breakfast in Boston MA" and you get a better selection, better reviews, correct directions and even websites you can go to.
Use Yelp, i have used them a lot and rarely did i get a bad suggestion, Hey urbanspoon, connect with Yelp and get your stuff together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for traveling
I use Urbanspoon to find great food while I travel. It has only steered me wrong once. I like the online version better than the mobile app though. I find it easier to search.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great to know where to go in an unfamiliar area
I like that you are able to find restaurants in an area that you aren't familiar with while on the go. It is fairly user friendly and the ratings appear to be pretty accurate.

2.0 out of 5 stars another Useless "Take Out Taxi" App
The problem I have with these "Take Out Taxi" services, besides their high convenience fee's, is the lack of choice of eats in the
area(s) being served. Read more
