I had to really LOL when a reviewer below said the song is "boring". This is a classic club song! Play this in any club or party and everyone knows it, and everyone dances to it. And suprisingly enough, it doesnt seem to matter the age group. When you are at a party and this song come to the end "Mama say Mama Sah Ma Ma Ku Sah" EVERYBODY is clapping their hands and singing and no one knows what it means! This is far from boring!RIP MJ

"Wanna be startin' somethin'" is an '80s classic from "Thriller",the bestselling album of all time. It's a peppy song. It's a staple on R&B/soul stations. It evokes the exuberant innocence of the '80s. The late Michael Jackson also added something new to the pop mix... at the end,he samples from Cameroon musician Manu Dibango's "Soul Makossa." He brought in world music, before it became trendy. ("Soul Makossa" is a great piece, one can hear why Jackson liked it) "Wanna be startin' somethin'",when it came to Jackson's life, ended too soon.

this song is just genius, the base and drum line might be but it's the melody in the verses and choruses taht change . How many brilliant songs do that? this song is just plain genius like most of MJ songs

"Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" kicks off Michael Jackson's monumental Thriller album with a funky slice of dance music. The Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa vibing at the end of the song practically begs you to get up and shake your booty on the dance floor. The lyrics are non-sensical mishmash about being a vegetable, stuck in the middle and pain being thunder. They are besides the point as it is the hyperactive dance groove that makes this song a standout.

I loved this song when it first came out and this appears to be the original version I first heard. However, music tastes are purely subjective and what I like some other person may hate. You should always listen to the sample clips before buying any song, anywhere.

great beat and drive home after work jam!!! loving it everyday. Now that the weather is nice and my windows are rolled down, other folks jump to the beat when I'm in a traffic back-up; which is most of the time in NJ

This soul shaking, powerful favorite by Michael Jackson is absolutely mind-boggling! I even added it to my aerobic step exercising music while I dance, dance, dance to the beat! I love this Michael Jackson hit!

After Thriller, this is my favorite song from this album. It's the perfect blend of pop, rock, and r&b. Throw in the sampling of African lyrics and you've got a lot of fun. It's aged incredibly well.
