5.0 out of 5 stars Mandy "I Wanna Be With You" too! I'm glad you told me!, July 23, 2000
Mandy Moore is a great singer and I have learned that she can't be compared to Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera because Mandy has her own unique voice and style. Mandy Moore is class and Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears are yesterdays trash. Just because Mandy has only had extreme success with the single "candy" that doesn't mean she is just a one hit wonder, greater success come to those who are patient. Mandy Moore shows great enthusiasm in her work by the way her vocals are displayed in Mandy Moore's new CD "I Wanna Be With You".

Tracks:

Track 1 > I Wanna Be With You: There is nothing more to say this track is great, we have all heard it and most of us have loved it.

Track 2 > Everything My Heart Desires: By the name of this song you probably think it is some lovely or corny ballad, but think again! This song has a great beat just like "Candy" but in know way does this song sound at all like "candy" this song has its very own catchy toon.

Track 3 > Want You Back: This song is from Mandy's debut album, it is a great song and I am glad that Mandy decided to include it in her special edition CD.

Track 4 > The Way To My Heart: This is another song title that sounds like a lovely or corny ballad but it has a great guitar beat that is very catchy. This song is no ballad but yet it still is very sweet and it sound even sweeter with Mandy's voice.

Track 5 > So Real (Wade Robson Remix): This remix of "so real" is a bit corny but for all you folks that like rap then this is the perfect remix for you. Though the original version of "so real" has an up-tempo beat this remix beat is much slower but it still sounds great.

Track 6 > Lock Me In Your Heart: This is a slow song off of Mandy's debut CD, it is one of my favorite songs and now that its on the special edition CD it remains one of my favorite songs. This song is another sweet song that is perfect for Mandy's beautiful vocals.

Track 7 > Walk Me Home: Now this song is a ballad that my 8 year old niece is really addicted to, it must have some potential if its my 8 year old nieces favorite song on the CD.

Track 8 > I Like It: This song has a disco beat to it and it would be great to dance to. This song was also on Mandy Moore's first CD. The beginning of this song sounds a bit like a commercial I can't remember.

Track 9 > So Real: This is the song from Mandy's first CD of the same title. Hey you have to leave something in memory of the First CD.

Track 10 > Candy (Wade Robson Remix): Cant get enough "Candy", this remix is yummy and it's not tacky as most remixes are.

Track 11 > Your Face: This song is another ballad that is not very catchy to teenie boppers. Maybe it will attract old folks.

Track 12 > I Wanna Be With You (Soul Solution Remix): What a great way to end your CD, with the same song as the first track of the same titled CD. But its not exactly the same, it a remix. You may be thinking that this is another slow beat like the original version, well think again the beat is faster than you think, you totally want to dance to it. Everybody I asked so far says that the remix sound better than the original and I was hoping maybe Mandy would make a Remix video with this song as well but she didn't. Oh well maybe next time!

You'll love this CD folks its got everything from A-Z including vitamins A, B & C. This New Mandy Moore CD is "So Real". Mandy more is what you call real teen pop she is only 16 years of age, Britney Spears is 18 & Christina Aguilera is 19 they are considered adults. Although Mandy may be 16 her voice sounds so adultish and sexy but yet still inocent and it shows with the vocals she used in this CD. I hope I was able to convince you to buy this CD and help Mandy Moore's CD reach Platinum!

Mandy Moore is another female teenager trying to hit it big in the music industry. Her first album "So Real" didn't gain her the star power that Britney or Christina currently enjoy, however it did feature some very clever songs like the hit "Candy" which did give Mandy enough fans to score a gold album. Now she's back (sort of) with "I Wanna Be With You" a mix of old material featured on her first album and some new songs. And while this CD does not feature superstar songwriters and producers to write, "hit songs" it features many tracks that clearly indicate a style that separates Mandy from Britney or Christina. The title track "I Wanna Be With You" is a lovely ballad. It's lyrics are very simple and Mandy sings it with here trademark soft, enchanting voice. Songs like Everything My Heart Desires and So Real allow Mandy to tackle an up-tempo song, which she does quite well on. "The Way to Your Heart" is one of my favorite songs on the album. It's a mid-tempo song in which Mandy tells the boy in her life that she doesn't want to lose him and that she wants him back in her life! I really like the way the song flows, with it's catchy melody and lyrics, which Mandy takes to the next level. And while some of the other songs are weak in terms creativity, perhaps the highlight of the album comes with the song "Your Face" From the opening bars of the song (which features a beautiful piano intro) you can tell that emotions will be flowing in this one. Mandy sings this one perfectly, with a very soft, tender voice that increases the emotional depth of the song. Musically the song is by far the maturest track on the album as an orchestra compliments Mandy's empathic performance. A tear fell from my eye after one listen to Your Face, as it's just that powerful. So while the album isn't perfect, it does have its moments. Perhaps a trip to superstar songwriter Diane Warren will help Mandy find that one hit that will take her to the next level were Christina, Jessica and Britney are currently at!!

3.0 out of 5 stars This Sounds Familiar..., May 18, 2000
By A Customer
I do like Mandy Moore. The reason she only got 3 stars instead of 4 is the fact that only 5 of these tracks (not including remixes) are new. Some of them are pretty sweet."I Wanna Be With You", the title track, is beautiful and romantic, and seems like a perfect theme for the ballet movie ("Center Stage") which it serves. "Everything My Heart Desires" sounds more like a remix than some actual ones on the album, but still holds its own as an uptempo ballad (yes, I'm aware that that's an oxymoron). "Want You Back" and "The Way To My Heart" are both sweet, innocent songs, and truely deserve to be singles ("Want You Back"'s guitar is delectible!). The "So Real" remix makes the bump-and-grinder seem more like R&B, a welcome change, I assure you. The tracks that are on Mandy's other album were probably chosen very carefully; they seem to be the more mature ballads from "So Real". The "Candy" remix is mediocre. Ditto for the "I Wanna Be With You" remix. "Your Face", a draggy ballad, shows that Mandy is probably a spectacular live act, but her attempted powerhouse vocals fizzle on this track. My only regrets: 1) Why isn't "Not Too Young" on here? It conveyed such a powerful message. 2) Mandy needs new material, although most of the new harmonies on this album dazzle.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Can't Explain It..., May 17, 2000
By A Customer
This is Mandy's special edition CD. Sort of like a So Real 2. It's not her sophomore CD, but a CD for devoted fans to listen to a few new songs. A few great songs. If you were expecting a new spectacular CD with a series of super brand new songs, go buy Spear's new CD. But if you want an intimate look at a couple of more mature songs than Mandy's previous album you gotta buy her new special edition CD. The song "Want You Back" will one day become a single. It has single written all over it. But there's this one song on the new CD that makes me feel...well, I can't really explain it. There are no words that exist that I can explain how much the song means to me. I would have bought the Special Edition CD for the same price as a regular CD even if it was the only song on it. The song I'm talking about is called "Your Face". This song does not have single written on it because it's slow and people want faster songs than this on the radio. That doesn't matter though. Everytime I hear this song it makes me want to cry. It's so sad and heart wrenching. If you ever had someone special maybe it was a high shool crush or that superstar actor or actress that made your heart skip a beat everytime you saw them. That person that gives you a warm rush that goes through your body followed by the bittersweet feeling of butterflies in your stomach...you just listen to this song and the feelings return. There's this one line that goes "Your face...holds me over...your face...wipes away the rain with a hundred summer skies...and everytime I talk to you it's like I'm alright..." Mandy's voice is perfect for this song because she sing with a soft, silky tone similar to "I wanna be with you". Her voice is not harsh or biting. This song...how can I explain it? Okay maybe it's like this. I live in LA. Not a pretty sight from my window. The surronding buildings are rusting and the city lights sometimes slightly flicker through the smog and black wispy smoke that slowly fades in the air. If I climb above the smoke and smog until I reach the roof of my apartment building I can see the stars above softly twinkling throughout the whole sky. And you stand there and hope that maybe that special someone out there who gives you the butterflies is out there that very same night looking at the very same stars. And the stars remind you of that person and the feelings of that schoolboy crush return...it no longer matters that the sky is smoggy or smokey as long as you have that face to "wipe away the rain with a hundred skies". No, not single material, but it's even better. I hope it will be the same for you if you ever get to hear the song and once again receive those butterflies.

3.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Album!, May 29, 2000
Here's my track-by-track review:

1. I Wanna Be With You - the song that turned me into a fully-fledged Mandy fan. I just love it and it's soaring and beautiful.

2. Everything My Heart Desires - a very cool dance track that could be a club hit.

3. Want You Back - starts off slow, then picks up to a nice tempo, another good track from Mandy.

4. The Way To My Heart - Aw! One of my favorite tracks on the CD. I love the accoustic guitar and the chorus...and the whole song basically.

5. So Real (Wade Robson Remix) - I don't really like this track, the music is strange in a weird way. It's a little too dark (at least to coincide with my image of Mandy *L*)

6. Lock Me In Your Heart - Another lukewarm track. I don't really like the music in this song, but Mandy's voice is good, so it's ok.

7.Walk Me Home - When I first heard this song I didn't like it, but after listening to it a few times, it's really grown on me - one of my favorite tracks.

8. I Like It - Yep, me, too. I love this song, it's really catchy and 70's-esque. Makes me think of a groovy video.

9. So Real - I don't really like this song. I don't know why? It just does nothing for me. And the thing about her "innocence" sort of gets annoying. Sorry *L*

10. Candy (Wade Robson Remix) - An excellent remix of this very cool song. This remix certainly does justice to the original.

11. Your Face - It's the slowest song on the disc, and it seems to go on for a long time.

12. I Wanna Be With You (Soul Solution Remix) - A *great* remix! Talk about a dance hit - this remix is one of the best tracks on here. No fan should miss it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprizingly listenable, July 12, 2000
To be honest, I hated Candy and thought that Mandy Moore's voice was seriously lacking in strength. However, I downloaded the new song "I Wanna Be With You" on a whim and was surprised by how much her singing had improved. While Mandy's breathy voice may be lacking the power of Christina Aguilera or Jessica Simpson, it has a nice, effortless sound that I find preferable.

1. I Wanna Be With You - 5 stars. beautiful, beautiful ballad. a little "old" for Mandy, but she sounds great.

2. Everything My Heart Desires - 4 stars. cute dance song, kind of has a vintage 80s quality to it.

3. Want You Back - 5 stars. another beautiful ballad that actually does Mandy's voice justice. so pretty.

4. The Way to My Heart - 5 stars. simple but catchy uptempo song. very cute.

5. So Real (remix) - 3 stars. listenable tune but not particularly memorable.

6. Lock Me in Your Heart - 3 stars. nothing special.

7. Walk Me Home - 4 stars. very cute ballad. also more appropriate than the more adult "I Wanna Be With You"

8. I Like It - 1 star. blah

9. So Real - 3 stars. see above. slightly prefered to remix.

10. Candy (remix) - 2 stars. i like it even less than the original.

11. Your Face - 3 stars. a challenging song. mandy sounds good but it's not exactly catchy.

12. I Wanna Be With You (Soul Solution Remix) - 5 stars. in general, remixes of ballads tend to sound a little weird. however, this is song works equally well as a ballad or dance mix. one of the best remixes i have ever heard of a song by any artist.

While the album may be mediocre overall, it's worth purchasing for "I Wanna Be With You" alone. plus it's enhansed, and features the videos for "Candy" and "Walk Me Home" which is why I gave it four stars instead of three.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Wanna Be With You, January 19, 2006
"I Wanna Be With You", is a special edition album to her first album debut, "So Real", and with this album, there are both new and old tunes. The hit single, "I Wanna Be With You", is the only song that's released from this album to ever be played on the radio, and it is a very beautiful song, as well. The rest of the songs on this album are wonderfully recorded and beautifully remixed!

4.0 out of 5 stars If At First You Don't Succeed... Make A Second Version, September 21, 2004
Mandy Moore made her debut at the age of fifteen, in the same year that other pop singers like Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears made their debuts. Like Jessica, Mandy's debut was more innocent in nature then the other so-called "pop princesses" though the album, "So Real" did not get much attention. Because of this, Mandy released a "special edition" album, entitled "I Wanna Be With You" the year after. This album contained some new songs, some from her first album and a couple of remixes. Normally, a move like this would not work very well but the album is still great, especially if (like me) you have not heard the original debut. Mandy's vocals are more high-pitched and not as strong as other singers but they suit her style impeccably, for the most part anyway.

The album begins with a new song, the title track, "I Wanna Be With You". This is a sweet, breathy ballad that fits well with Mandy's voice. The song really doesn't have anything new to say but it is sung so sweetly that it really does not matter. The vocals during the bridge are not quite as strong as I would have liked but they sound nice nevertheless. Next up is another new song, "Everything My Heart Desires", an upbeat track that comes a little too close to overshadowing Mandy's vocals in the chorus. Lyrically it could use some work. Most would think that Mandy does not have a strong enough voice for this style of song but she actually manages to get through and does a great job. The last four lines appeal to me for some reason though I'm not sure why. ("The best thing underneath the stars, you're everything my heart desires. Don't change, stay the way you are, you're everything my heart desires").

"Want You Back" follows and begins beautifully, once again showcasing Mandy's breathy vocals. The vocals in the chorus sound a little off to me but that does not take away too much from the quality of the song. The part towards the end of the song, where Mandy sings the chorus but not quite as breathily (you'll understand when you hear the song) sounds particularly great. Up next is "The Way To My Heart" which is enjoyable but more forgettable then most of the rest of the material on this album. Mandy's vocals are actually a little stronger in this song, probably because it was not taken from her debut. The song is nice enough and pleasant to listen to but does not stand out. After that comes the first of three remixes. This time it is the remix of "So Real", a song I have never particularly been a fan of. However, the background music in this song makes it sound great. Mandy sounds particularly young in this song and the lyrics aren't great but it is still a quality remix.

Next comes two of my personal favourites, "Lock Me In Your Heart" and "Walk Me Home", both of which were on Mandy's first album. I actually found "Lock Me In Your Heart" quite irritating and cheesy at first but it quickly won me over. The way Mandy sang this song was extremely sweet and beautiful. The song borders on being too repetitive but never quite gets there. Instead, Mandy's breathy vocals are once again showcased wonderfully and the lyrics are not nearly as bad as I initially thought. I first heard "Walk Me Home" on an episode of Lizzie McGuire, without knowing that it was Mandy Moore. I loved the song but had no idea what it was called or who it was by. So, I of course was surprised when I bought this album and found it on here. This song is probably one of the best in terms of lyrical quality as well as showcasing Mandy's innocent vocals.

Up next is the mildly annoying "I Like It". This song is quite weak vocally and does not suit Mandy at all. This song probably wouldn't have been so bad if the vocals had fit better with the beat. The lyrics are also quite repetitive, mostly in the chorus, and the song is at least a minute too long. The original version of "So Real" follows and while this version is pretty good, I actually prefer the remix that appeared earlier in the album. I do still like the way Mandy sings the line "I just can't let you go" during the chorus. After that comes a remix of Mandy's single, "Candy". I also disliked this song at first but it grew on me. Mandy sounds quite off in several places (when she sings "me", it sounds like "may") but the chorus sounds great and is what got me to like this song in the first place. A touching ballad, "Your Face" comes next and though Mandy's voice is not strong enough for this kind of song, she still manages to make it great. The lyrics are especially beautiful. Lastly there is a remix of the title track. This is a nice addition but probably could have been left off in favour of something more original.

Overall Mark: 4/5

Despite the lack of recognition Mandy got from her original debut, she manages to bounce back with this entertaining version. What Mandy lacks in vocal strength, she makes up for solely by choosing the right material to show off her voice. The major issue I have with this album is that there are only ten real songs, as two of them show up in duplicates ("So Real" and the title track). While the remixes aren't bad, it probably would have been better to include only one version of each of these as well a couple more new songs. Nevertheless, with this album, Mandy proves that she can provide a great album and can stand on her own against other pop singers. Mandy's second attempt at a debut proves to be consistent as well as great.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Pop Record, August 25, 2004
This has definitely got to be one of my most treasured albums. I enjoy nearly every track on it & I feel that this CD is full of good pop tracks. Miss Moore's second U.S. single, "I Wanna Be With You", was a smash hit. Its lyrics are beautiful & they really touch the heart. Moore's vocals are angelic, breathy, & passionate. The music itself is wavy, relaxing, gentle, tender, heavenly; etc. A beautiful love ballad & one of the best songs in the world. Very radio-friendly. This particular CD is a Special Edtion of the platinum-certified MM debut record, "So Real", & contains four tracks from it: "Lock Me In Your Heart", "Walk Me Home" (Moore's third American single), "I Like It", & the Australian hit, "So Real". Three remixed Moore singles as well: "Candy" (Wade Robson Remix), "So Real" (Wade Robson Remix), & "I Wanna Be With You (Soul Solution Remix). The five newer songs on here (including "I Wanna Be With You") are all amazing! They're so incredible. It's a shame that none of the other four were released to radio-play. "Everything My Heart Desires" is a great dance-pop track & can put nearly anyone in a feel-good mood. Moore's voice sounds innocent-like; yet the slightest bit smokey because of some of her lower-keyed & funky vocals. "Want You Back" is a ballad most teenagers & young adults can relate to. It's about breaking up with someone & the regret & sorrow that follows afterwords. Wondering if your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend still has love feelings for you. "The Way To My Heart" completely blew myself away when I first listened to the entire track. I adore how the tune of the song changes into more of a positive & glad one towards the end of it. Its words are rather corny...yet they speak of truth when it comes to loving someone. Mandy sings this awesomely. Oh my goodness..."Your Face" is the eleventh track on the disc & Moore has received a massive amount of good critical discussion involving the powerful vocal range delivered here. "Your Face" is quite romantic with its sentences drenched in purity & Mandy, once more, uses the angel whispers within her extraordinary talent. Magnificant song! The best songs from this fantastic love album are "I Wanna Be With You", "Everything My Heart Desires", "Want You Back, "The Way To My Heart", "So Real" (Wade Robson Remix), "Walk Me Home", "I Like It", "So Real", & "Your Face".

Most certainly, this CD is a better music offering than the CD, "So Real". It's even greater than Moore's official sophomore self-titled CD. The gold-selling & Middle-Eastern-oriented, "Mandy Moore". And believe me...that's awfully difficult to beat.

"I Wanna Be With You" (Special Edition) featuring the smash, "I Wanna Be With You", & the three revamped singles, "I Wanna Be With You (Soul Solution Remix), "Candy" (Wade Robson Remix), & "So Real" (Wade Robson Remix).
