5.0 out of 5 stars They Can See Me Belly Dance Anytime!
The Red Elvises created 6 new fans (ALL of them REAL Belly Dancers ...) when I played this CD for some dance friends. We did indeed belly dance and rock the "houseski" with this wonderful, insane twist on Eastern music! 3.0 out of 5 stars solid rock and roll with mutilated lyrics
This is a real party band. Pretty standard rock style, decent musicians, great sense of humor. I recommend using the 3.00 you save here to buy a six pack to drink while listening. I get the feeling this band likes LA a lot better than Russia.

From the moment we cued up "Hello from Istanbul" through the end of the title cut, "I Wanna See You Bellydance", we were hooked! The Red Elvises have filled the void left by The Three Mustaphas (I STILL miss 'em!), are way more entertaining than Detroit's own Immigrant Suns, and as much to fun to listen/dance to as the B52s. I'd belly dance to this Red Elvises CD anytime -- and WILL!

I'll admit it right up front: I'm a Red Elvises fan. These guys know how to rock, and this is one of my favorite CDs. This music is just plain FUN. I can't sit still when I'm listening to it. It's one of those CDs that you just have to get up and dance to.

Self-described as kick a** rock and roll from Siberia, this CD delivers! Don't miss the chance if you ever have the opportunity to see them live.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Wanna CD You Belly Dance, September 19, 2006
This review is from: I Wanna See You Belly Dance (Audio CD)
As a Red Elvis fan, I have to say this album is their crowning achievement. It's got plenty of Rock & Roll or Rokenrol if you prefer.

Russian rock has never been better than on this album. Igor's voice flows in and around the instruments like a well-oiled Elvis wig. All these songs are so catchy and downright "Rocking". Even the instrumentals (El Nino and After the Carnival) are catchy.

I'm Not That Kind of Guy and I Wanna See You Bellydance are the best works of the Red Elvises. The remake of Sad Cowboy Song is quite different from the version on their original cd and while both are great, this one is more upbeat and interesting. Again, Igor's voice on this album is unbeatable. If you're buying one Red Elvises album, make it this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eclectic, Energetic, Innovative, and they Rock, April 1, 2006

They do it all! They incorporate a variety of styles, and do it all well with their own personality and style. I can't decide if I like the Russian type music, the rockabillys, or the surf sounding tunes better. Their various styles seem to complement each other. This is the most interesting roknrol since the White Album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Your Favorite Band's Great Album, April 15, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: I Wanna See You Belly Dance (Audio CD)
That the Red Elvises have yet to hit the mainstream is a crime. And the songs on this, one of their best efforts, is proof of that. Mixing traditional Russian with classic American rock 'n roll and surf rock, the music of Red Elvises' "I Wanna See You Belly Dance" grabs you by your dancing feet.

Igor's masterful work on "Rocketman," "Gypsy Heart," the title track et al are primo. Oleg rocks the house on each and every track with his balalaika bass, and brings "Sad Cowboy Song" to amusing life, which is arguably one of the best Red Elvises songs ever. Zhenya's vocalizations wrap it up with his soft stylings.

If you're interested in checking out the Red Elvises for the first time, this is the album you should get. Be sure that you are getting the English language version as there is also a version in their native Russian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shooba-Doobah, indeed., April 24, 2000

Anyone with a taste for fun should buy any Red Elvises album but I have never felt better than when I listen to this record. The musicianship (if that is a word) in this band far exceeds that of the pop regime that is in place right now. If these guys could get more attention, I think there would be an EXPLOSION of good, fun music in America. That's what we need, right?

5.0 out of 5 stars Shoobah Doobah!!!, April 7, 1999
This review is from: I Wanna See You Belly Dance (Audio CD)
If you like well-written, danceable, hard driving, FUN music performed by talented, highly energetic musicians, here it is! This disk combines influences of rock, swing, surf, bluegrass, and Eastern folk into an amazing collection of original songs from three Russians and one American obviously loving life in America. From the title cut to the hilarious lyrics of "Suzannah", you will "boowgie", laugh and sing along. The blazing guitar work features the best blend of fretted notes and slide I've ever heard. Guitar work reminiscent of the freshness and fluidity of the likes Danny Gatton and Jimmy Bryant, with the power of Dick Dale.

It's hard to find music that is this fun and danceable and yet as well writtenas "I Wanna See You Belly Dance". Watch for these guys coming through your town. Their live show are even more entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Siberia Meets Surf Rock, March 29, 1999
This review is from: I Wanna See You Belly Dance (Audio CD)
This is my most played CD at the moment. I just bought "Surfing in Siberia" as well. It's fun, campy, and quirky. The tunes are melodic and the lyrics are humorous (Love the accents too!)with a blend of ethnic music and the Dick Dale sound. I can easily see the Swing crowd appreciating this music, as well. I hope they tour in Florida real soon!
