More About the Author

A.J. Clare writes Chick Lit (and she doesn't care that "Chick Lit" is now faux pas to say...as far as she's concerned, it was the best name for Romantic Comedies EVER). She also writes historical romance, although those stories are still hiding under the bed... for now.

A.J. also blogs business, bookkeeping and blogging advice under the name E.T. Barton at her website www.OneHourBookkeeper.com. She likes building websites and reads a whole heck of a lot, which is why she started the website www.BookReviewersClub.com. She is constantly building new websites - because she just can't help herself - and spends way too much time in front of her computer.

A.J. loves to ride her Harley, play roller derby, and travel. She has traveled around the world with her family - a hot hubby and two kids - and has been to 15 countries and 9 states as of 2012.

You can learn more about her love of spy-related shows and gadgets at her website www.WannabeSpyClub.com.

I was drawn in immediately by the group of friends who loved spy stuff so much they made a club to learn about all things related to spying. I loved the energetic relationship between Leslie, Dale, Jazz and Vivica, which spoke of a long-lasting, time-tested friendship. These friends were ready and willing to drop anything at the drop of a hat to help out any of the Wannabes.

From the first scene with Jack, I was completely hooked and found myself rooting for him and Leslie. They had a great chemistry that didn't feel forced despite the relatively short time frame of the book. The author crams a lot of action into this book but it didn't feel crammed. The pacing was great, the dialogue realistic, as was the emotional reactions to various situations in the book. Each character carried quite a lot of baggage in the book and I felt it was dealt with in a very satisfactory manner.

Leslie's relationship with her sister felt realistic, especially since I have teenagers of my own. You just never really know what's going to happen and have to be ready for anything (and sometimes even have to take drastic measures to keep them safe from themselves). I digress. But seriously, the author crafts a fantastic, laugh-out-loud, hang-on-to-the-edge-of-your-seat story. I could not put the book down and read it in a morning.

I laughed, I cheered, I dropped my jaw and said to myself "oh no, you di'unh!" I LOVED the scene where Leslie takes a crowbar to.... (you have to read the book to find out to what! No spoilers!).

I highly recommend reading the Wannabe Spy Club. It's a book full of friendship, romance and family (and spy stuff!). I'm looking forward to the next book, which will be Vivica's book.

Sensuality: a few kisses and a sex scene. I'd probably let my teenage daughter read it since it's not overly explicit.

This was a really fantastic book, I really enjoyed the story line. I had trouble putting the book down. I thought it had a great story line and the characters were really enjoyable. A lot of twist and turns. A great book. I would recommend this book to any of my friends.

I love love loved this book! I found myself laughing out loud constantly and the romance-ooh la la! I am in love with Jack and I am in love with this book. I think I found my new favorite series. I highly recommend it. To me this author is a slightly steamier Janet Evanovich. Nothing too raunchy but it will definitely rev your engine (wink wink!). Do yourself a favor and buy this book...you won't be sorry!

I don't write many reviews, though I should considering how many books I go through. But I had to review this one. I got it for free and I wasn't expecting much (I never have much luck with the free books). But I was so very wrong! What a fun story! The characters are unique but blend together very well and the dialogue was "real". I have a hard time when authors use proper english for dialogue...we don't speak with proper english in our everyday lives. I love Leslie's cursing. :) I can't wait to read more from A.J. Clare. Hoping to see stories on the other Wannabes.

I really enjoyed this book. It didn't really have much to do with spies, other than the four Wannabe girls are spy fans and have a bunch of gadgets. The story is more about friendship, new love, building relationships and sticking together in tough times. There are some hot and heavy scenes between one of the main characters and her new beau which definitely puts the novel in the "romance" category but it was fun, easy to read, exciting and an all around good time!

This book was great, and I hope the author continues the series, I want to find out what happens to the rest of the Wannabes. If you liked the High Heels mysteries, the Amber Fox mysteries or the Bluegrass series you'll like the Wannabes too. I like this type of "suspense" when you know there will be "happily ever after" it's just a question of how will you get there. Plus you just have to love a book with dueling gangs, Hells Angels and four women who watch way too much spy tv. And to settle their argument fron the beginning of the book, Michael Westin, without a doubt.

I might have liked this story in Jr high. I thought it was juvenile and not believable. Too much dialogue for one thing.

Definitely worth the read. We need more books like this one. Well- written, good dialog and the action rolls on.
