This is a neat kids book, and the illustrations are priceless. I gave it only four stars because the words to the song in the book don't match the words in the actual song. As a matter of fact, the words in the line about the garage don't even make sense to me. If you don't have the original record by Gayla, then this probably won't make any difference to you. You will still enjoy the book.

In the town I used to live in, they kicked of the Christmas season by playing this song. Now every year I look forward to hearing it during the Christmas season. I was so pleased to find this book. I love it and so do my kids.

Too cute! The pictures are great. Children love it, expecially when they can learn the song with it.

It is absolutely wonderful! My daughter was thrilled and she is 18 years old! She was looking for the oldie in music form and wasn't even aware that there was a book! Thank you, Thank you

Great story! My 2 preschool classes loved it. I accompanied book with the song by Gayla Peevey and it added so much to the curriculum I was presenting.

My kids love this book, especially the one it was mostly intended for. It's just a fun book with accompanying song, etc.

My daughter had created a video of her lip-synching to the song "I Want a Hippopatomus for Christmas" so I ordered this book for her. It is perfect - the illustrations that accompany the lines to the song are amusing and well-done. It is a book I would like to share with my class of students (and I only share the "good stuff" with them!). I can't wait to see her face when she opens this on Christmas!

I am going to have my three year old class dance to this song for are christmas program. THey love it when I sing it to them as well as trying to say the word "hippopotamus". I think it's so much fun! We were going to do Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer but I was over that since it's been done so many times. This is the perfect substitute! There's a book and a cd you can get too to help them practice. I reccomend this to everyone for christmas.

I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas song has been part of our Xmas holidays for almost 50 years --- for my children and now my grandchildren. This book provided a new part of the tradition in our home -- great illustrations and fun to read along.
