Product Description

Since 1995, APS has produced a variety of high-quality special interest video.

With this series, our main goal was to provide sign language lessons for children ages 5 to 12 that involve everyday "real-life" situations. We also wanted to find a group of kids who could actually learn and use the signs on-camera as the production progressed. Nicole and Caitlin Taylor along with Bekah Collingsworth were just super! We were also very fortunate to find Quentin Hudon, a young deaf boy, to play the part of Andy, the girl's cousin who comes to visit. Quentin bought an incredible combination of natural acting talent, humor and depth beyond his years to our programs!

In keeping with the concept that children are great learners if they are not talked down to or if they are not expected to absorb material at a lightening pace, it was critical that we find an on-camera host that was a qualified, patient and loving teacher.

Luckily, we found Karen Green, a graduate from Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. She is also a pre-school teacher and has taught sign language in community college. Karen has worked with deaf adults for the past 14 years and has received the Georgia Association of the Dear Recognition Award.

I hope these programs will open up new worlds of learning and understanding for lots of people!
