Book Description

Previously published by Kensington Precious Gems

Jenny Reder is finally moving on with her life. Her CPA business is thriving and she's engaged to a man who may not be the love of her life - but then, the love of her life left her at the altar. Now, however, just as abruptly as Jake Durham vanished before their wedding, he's back. It doesn't take long for Jenny to realize that her ex still has the power to make her breathless with desire - and long for something that can never be...

Jake has a perfectly good explanation for why he walked out on his wedding to Jenny two years ago. The trouble is, he can't tell her the truth about why he left and where he's been. Even if he could, she probably wouldn't believe it. But Jake hasn't given up on marrying the only woman he'll ever love. Convincing Jenny to give him another chance might not be easy - but as far as Jake is concerned, leaving her twice in a lifetime would be downright impossible.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could Have Been Better August 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The copyright on the book says 2000, but the author says that this book was written in the 1990s. Nonetheless, those dates were before the era of CSI and NCIS, wherein pop culture's point of view on police procedurals or "cop and robbers" changed drastically. So, though "Want You Back" is far from being dated, its pacing and characterization are a far cry from the alpha males Jethro Gibbs (NCIS) and Mac Taylor (CSI:New York) and the women they love.

This review will have spoilers and I am writing it a little differently from my other ones simply because the author took the time to reach out to her readers. There will be ***SPOILERS***. And just for readers who want to know the rating, this book is PG 13 due to some violence. There are no sex scenes.

***SPOILER ALERT*** There are a lot of spoilers after this line.

Two years ago, Jake Durnham literally left Jenny Reder at the altar when he disappeared the day before their wedding. But, now he is back and Jenny found out that even after two years, she still loves him. The feeling is mutual, and all Jake and Jenny have to do is found a common ground. But there were other factors involved like the Mexican drug cartel. Jake and Jenny found themselves running for their lives.

Great plot, isn't it? And it would have been a great romantic thriller which could have been achieved by either two ways - make the book longer so that the drug cartel's story is drawn out better or leave out the first half of the book wherein Jenny and Jake were courting again in a manner of speaking.

I love the idea of forgiveness and redemption. I also love the idea of Jenny and Jake finding each other again and the whole town acting as Cupid.

3.0 out of 5 stars Want Periods Back August 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I agree with the other reviewers. The book needs proofreading. A lot of periods are missing. It wasn't so bad in the beginning but kept getting worse and worse. Section breaks within chapters were also missing. My guess is those periods and section breaks were there once upon a time but for some reason disappeared. The book doesn't have the usual grammatical and spelling errors, so it may have been well edited at one point.

There was a slight error in the story line: Jake and Trent were in the helicopter, but somehow Drew, who was left behind on the ground, managed to nudge Jake with his elbow while talking to him. The book ended rather abruptly, but the storyline wasn't bad at all if you can finish reading it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to give it a chance August 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started to give the book 3 stars but realized, after some thought, that I really didn't care for the book very much. I won't rehash the plot line, as seveal other reviewers have already discussed it, but the characters were not all that realistic. I could believe that the heroine changed her way of looking at life, and what she wanted in a man, after Jake crushed her by leaving her at the alter; however, I don't believe that she would have done a complete turnabout after his return. Sure the author did a couple of angry, "I cannot believe you did that to me", scenes but the bottom line is that Jenny was back in his arms within days of his return.***Spoiler alert** The ending was very unrealistic--how could men in a tight-security compound miss the fact that a helicopter was flying in? It is not as a helicopter is a quiet mode of travel but apparently every other guard in the compound was looking elsewhere until too late. A quick run, a few bullets, jump in the helo and danger is over. Really? What about the drug cartel that was out to get Jake? What about the obsessed Rosa, did she decide to forget about Jake all of a sudden? Just couldn't buy the quick and easy ending, and that, for me, ruined the book. The best I can say about the book is that I didn't hate it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Want You Back December 30, 2014

This is a story of second chance love. Jenny was left at the altar on her wedding day by Jake. Now two years later she has moved on and has a new love intrest. He maybe not the be all in the love stakes but she can depend on him. Jake disappeared right before their wedding only to show up now. He wants her back. But will his secrets keep them apart? I ejoyed this story line by Karen Whiddon. Have read several other of her works and enjoyed them also. Looking for more later.

this book was okay for a quick read. I thought the ending, which was very dramatic, should have lasted a lot longer. it ended too quickly

3.0 out of 5 stars Long read and ending cut off September 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thought it was a OK book. I totally got the wrong idea about ending. It ended kind of awkwardly. There was not enough enteraction between the two lovers.

3.0 out of 5 stars slightly disappointed September 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Want you Back! I was a little disappointed with the ending. I didn't hate the book. However I didn't completely love it either. The book for me had the emotions and the cahracters. However could have been a little better with the turn abouts. The main character for me Jenny seemed slightly fickle with her attitude from being cold towards Jake one moment and in the next being hot and heavy for him. I can understand the inner turmoil going on with her emotions. But for me a woman that scorned of being left at the alter.. ****spoiler alert**** You would think she would act a lot different towards Jake. However I can see how the author can make it seem that way. The story seemed rush. However, I would recommend this book for some light reading.

There were some mistakes in the timeline. I felt like if in the end, the author wanted to finish and be done with it.
