Peajaye (illustrations) worked his way through film school as a middle-school teacher and is the author of the children's book Under The Covers.

As a devoted fan of Marinka's hilarious parenting blog ("Motherhood in NYC"), I was hoping that her online voice would be echoed here - and I wasn't disappointed. WANTED: CAT is a sweet story about one family's acquisition of a beloved pet, but Marinka's sly, tart humor keeps it fun, real and never saccharine. A lovely and entertaining read for parents considering the addition of a furry friend to their household...as well as children looking for ways to coerce their parents into taking the pet plunge.

My son really likes this book. It is funny and lighthearted, yet teaches children about how to work towards getting something you truly want. Because my child is too young to read on his own I really appreciate sharing with him books that even as an adult I find humorous. I love the format of it too, great to put in your bag and read 'on the go'.

I'm not a huge fan of the Cat. They make me sneeze, aggravate my asthma, and scratch every surface of my skin. I have to wear a wet suit to avoid their wrath. But this cat? This cat I could live with.

I've followed Marinka's blog and twitter for years and often refer to her as the funniest person on the Internet. And this book delivers more of the same. It's hard to be consistently funny in all social media. But Marinka does it, and does it brilliantly.

Please buy this book or she's sending her real cat to live with me AND HAS ANYONE SEEN MY WETSUIT?

I too am a fan of Marinka's extremely funny blog. This account of the extended negotiations and preparations that culminated in her family's great leap forward to cat ownership is a hilarious look at family dynamics. The illustrations are clever and amusing as well. Kids, parents and feline-lovers of all stripes will recognize themselves in this book and enjoy reading it.
