5.0 out of 5 stars Wow ~ every woman's fantasy comes to life!
Pat Ballard has done it again...she has given me a book to read and a fantasy to hope for! I fell in love with her character, Matt, from the very beginning. Many of us women remember being a teenager and having a crush on a rock star only to have it never materialize into anything more than a silly crush when we look back on it. Hanna Rockwell has hers come true through...

I sincerely wish that amazon.com allowed 0 stars. There were too many "eyerolling" moments in this book, not to mention that the copy editor must have been on vacation. I sincerely wish that amazon.com allowed 0 stars. There were too many "eyerolling" moments in this book, not to mention that the copy editor must have been on vacation. The plot, which involves a voluptuous woman and ex-rock-and-roll star who get married because of the terms of a will and then begin to fall in love, would have been far more believable if the author would have spent time in story development to make us care about the characters. This does not happen. Consequently, the characters come off as simply unbelievable and cliche-ish. Save your money and pass on this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ugh, March 10, 2003

I wish that the fact that the heroine was full-figured made up for the terrible writing. It didn't.
This is really one of the most poorly-written books I've ever read. I was so sad about it because I really yearn for a realistic character, and normally I can give an author kudos for the attempt, but I really wish this attempt had never been made. There were grammar and spelling errors, and I felt as if it was written by a junior-high kid. Initially I was going to concede that at least Ballard had a knack for building sexual anticipation, but when she stopped just short of the act with some broad reference to "and then they had great sex" I threw up my hands. I'm so disappointed. I am hopeful that perhaps Pat's skill will increase with time and in a few years I can come back to her.
Please, if you're looking for a good full-figured romance novel I suggest you look over some of the other books I've reviewed, this one might just turn you against the genre for life.

Pat Ballard has done it again...she has given me a book to read and a fantasy to hope for! I fell in love with her character, Matt, from the very beginning. Many of us women remember being a teenager and having a crush on a rock star only to have it never materialize into anything more than a silly crush when we look back on it. Hanna Rockwell has hers come true through no doing of her own. Hanna needs to be married by the time she is 30 or she will lose her inheritance and home will be lost. Hanna doesn't feel attractive because she isn't a size 6 and she's been told by her mother and brother all of her life that she needs to lose weight. Along comes Matt Corbett, the has-been rock star who is recently bankrupt, to her rescue. Hanna doesn't even meet Matt until their wedding day. At the alter, we find Matt..."As he gazed down at her upturned face, awareness dawned on him. He was irrevocably, deeply in love with Hanna Rockwell!" What woman alive hasn't wished for a man to feel this way about her?!

If that isn't enough for you, "Wanted: One Groom" goes even further. Matt and Hanna do not make love on their wedding night since they have only just met. When they do, we hear Matt saying..."I'm going to make love to you all night. Over and over and over. I'm going to kiss every inch of your body. And when I'm finished, you're never going to doubt that you're beautiful. And you're going to know that you're worthy of any man's love." And he proceeded to do all he had promised. He proved to Hanna that not every man is attracted to petite women; some men like voluptuous curvy women and appreciate their unique qualities.

In Matt, Pat Ballard has created the dream man for most women. How many of us would love to hear a man say..."It dawned on me this morning when I woke up that I'm truly happy for the first time in my life"? Or, "You're the sexiest woman I've ever been with, and I love making love with you, but I also enjoy just being with you like this. I feel like a moonstruck kid this morning"? Or having him write song lyrics about a man who was so in love with a woman that every thought he had was centered around her and to have it be a song about you?

If you're a woman who has wished for just these things, this book will be a favorite of yours and you, too, will fall in love with Matt Corbett. Let's hope that Pat Ballard doesn't tire of writing because any of us who have taken the time to read her books will continue to look for the next one in print.

I bought this book because of the glowing reviews that I read, and I have to say..I can't understand why it's gotten such high marks....I think that this is the most poorly written book that I have ever read. The storyline itself wasn't what bothered me..it was the complete lack of description and the unbelievably underdeveloped characters. I didn't think it was possible, but this book was actually too fast paced..I felt rushed through it. I cannot believe that this was actually published...I definitely would NOT recommend wasting your time or your money on this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the book, March 28, 2005
This review is from: Wanted: One Groom (Paperback)
OK, Lets be real. Authors rarely write books about normal size ladies. I have loads of buddies who don't want the run of the mill female lead in a book of for that matter movies. We are starved for a good well-written Romance about a nice guy and a nice girl with curves and I want my friends to read this book and just enjoy it. Don't try to over think it, just take a walk with two people looking for a place to be?

5.0 out of 5 stars A satisfying romance, February 3, 2010

I love the BBW heroine's sweetness and understand how cautious she would be to see the man of her wildest fantasies forced into marrying her, and yet unable to say no and thus lose her inheritance. Romance should fulfil our fantasies and this book does!
