THE MODERN WOMAN’S GUIDE TO FINDING A SPIRITUAL, BALANCED & FULFILLED LIFE
Today’s female professionals, wives and mothers often find themselves influenced by conflicting, powerful ideals about who a woman is and who she should be. In Wanting All the Right Things, Shirin Taber weaves together biblical principles, personal experiences and revealing research to provide solutions to the complex issues women face today.
Taber helps women turn from their anxieties of attaining a perfect life toward a more satisfying, successful existence. "Emerging femininity," as Taber describes it, focuses on the connection between personal identity, social and domestic responsibilities, and faith. Women can achieve anything they want: career, motherhood, significance, lasting relationships and a spiritual life. It’s all about wanting the right things.

From the Author

"In general, I've found that women want to love their husbands and children and to be feminine, but they are also still working for greater openness, mutual respect and sharing of responsibilities both in vocational and domestic life."

"The freedoms women have gained are fantastic undertakings, but to enjoy them, we must not be conquered by them. Perhaps there are even new frontiers, new businesses, new educational fields that will remain unexplored until we stop trying to live and work like men and start living and working like women."

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading it again, October 9, 2008
This review is from: Wanting All the Right Things: Finding a Spiritual, Balanced, & Fulfilled Life (Paperback)
I am reading this book for the second time. There is so much insight for women my age (between 20 and 35ish) and the things in life we deal with as women and Christians. The first two chapters are a little harder to get through but after that I can't put it down. What woman is not desperate for significance, beauty, the supernatural, etc.?? Taber beautifully explains our identity in Christ as the answer to these longings we feel as young women. I plan on doing a young adult ladies study out of it in January. Great read- poignant and relevant.

4.0 out of 5 stars For Christian Women in Their 30's, January 29, 2007
This review is from: Wanting All the Right Things: Finding a Spiritual, Balanced, & Fulfilled Life (Paperback)
Wanting All the Right Things by Shirin Taber is a well written book for Christian women between 18 and 35 years of age. Taber describes the difficult and unfair position this third generation of liberated women have been assigned. It is not only impossible to fulfill all the dreams and rights they were born to but it is unhealthy to strive to. No one can be a high powered executive, a perfect homemaker and mother, a volunteer citizen and a sane and healthy person at the same time. Taber helps women realize and make healthy choices and goals which are attainable without burn-out and break-down.

I went to pick up this book today and I'm already hooked. Its just amazing! Its like my title says: Wanting All The Right Things and Getting All the Right Answers! Till now all the insecurities and questions that Ive had lately have been manifested in this book and I just started reading it, so who knows what will happen as soon as I finish reading it.

Truly recommended for those early twenties women, christian women, college freshmen, college softmores and seniors. The truths and advices in there are as good as my mother's.
