This is an insightful little book, doesn't take too long to read but gives you just what you're (probably) looking for. It's written by a clinical psychologist and a medical doctor, who have also both studied religious and spiritual teachings.

Without using unexplained long words or abstract concepts, it provides you with encouraging and helpful information on the psychological, medical and spiritual aspects of the suicide topic, with gentle advice on what you can do. Helpful for anyone considering suicide (even a little), or if you know someone that is and you want to help them live, as it contains a good amount of detail on the various causes, the consequences, as well as practical help on ways to overcome. The authors include case studies from their own clients and others to illustrate their points.

As the book says, "Many who consider suicide might well make a different choice if they knew where the decision would lead them."

It could also be very beneficial to someone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, as I believe it can help the healing process to realise some of the background details around what can cause suicide and what happens after a suicide takes place (most importantly, the book can help you understand that it's not your fault!)

I genuinely believe that this book has the potential to save lives. If you think you might need it for any of these reasons, please buy it, and when you're ready find other resources and professional advice to help too. I wish you all the best.

This book reveals some powerful understanding of the topic of suicide. The authors bring to the forefront a spiritual perspective on suicide that is very enlightening and impacting on ones life. This is a book that needs to be spread throughout the schools and universities and workplaces. I am sure it has already saved may lives and will continue to do so!

Spiritual Roots of Suicide December 28, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
First of all if you don't value spirituality this is the wrong book for you, but if you do then this book is a treasure. This book put the final nail in the coffin of suicide for me. There's no way that I'll ever even remotely consider it again as the consequences are worse than the cirumstances that made me want to do it. In a nutshell there's karma to pay and if you commit suicide chances are you have to live life over again and face the same cahallenges and learn to overcome them until you learn to persevere to the end. Also your feelings are still there after death and you feel the same way as you did only you are still alive and there's nothing you can do about it. The author should have put more emphasis onteh process of uncovering these concepts so that those who are skeptical but looking can be more reassured. Unfortunately she has since died. Unlike the first reviewer says this book does give hope to those who have lost a loved on to suicide. It helps them to realize that they are not stuck in some Hell dimension, but that they will be taken care of and prepared to face life again and our prayers for them do help speed the process. the first reviwer is way off base. Perhaps they'd do better to read a medical journal full of talk about neurons and nerve synapses and medications. This book is so not that thankfully. I take my hat off to the author for giving me a solution to my suicidal tendencies. I'm going to live. However in my quest for answers I have found a great many metaphysical things that help many of which are complementary to this book such as regression therapies, and spirit releasement therapy that continue in the spiritual tradition. be sure to research them as well and i recommend a book called "Remarkable Healings", by Dr. Shakuntala Modi. This book gives a comprehensive and general look at what can be done with these newer types of therapy. The knowledge gaing from from reading this book along with wanting to live give a good background in spiritual therapy. This is the wave of the future and soon prescribing drugs will be seen as primitive especially over long periods of time.
