4.0 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece from Smith, July 22, 2003
By
Jennifer French (Garland, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Wanton Splendor (Mass Market Paperback)
Christopher is a gambler who wins a southern plantation in a card game. Kathleen (Katie) is a modern woman who feels trapped into going to Louisiana by her father's need to marry her off. After Christopher hits her brother, Katie charges to her brother's rescue and gives Christopher a black eye. Thus begins this tale.

WANTON PLEASURE is a book full a intrigue and daring. Set in the pre-civil war Louisiana, the plantation way of life and the color lines are very much on display in this novel. It is interesting to read Christopher and Katie's story, but it is also interesting the role the Underground Railroad plays. If you are a fan of Smith, this is a must read. If you are a newcomer to Smith, read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of all the Bobbi Smith books, May 28, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wanton Splendor (Mass Market Paperback)
I read about 10 books from Bobbi Smith and this is the best of them all. The characters are complex and the story is facinating and this story allows you to become personally involved in all the characters the good and the bad. This book is the most complex of all Ms. Smith books and ride leaves you wanting for more at the end. It was a book that I was sad to put down after reading it because I wanted more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bobbi Smith has never written a book you couldn't enjoy. But, October 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Wanton Splendor (Paperback)
for me, this wasn't one of her best. The story as outlined above is good and holds your interest. The characters are wonderful. There is depth and humor and sadness and love. It's just not a book I would read a 2nd time. Ms Smith has written too many outstanding books for me to be impressed by this one.
