If there was ever a time in history where people need to understand their relationships, it is now. 1 out of every 2 marriages end in divorce; we have more children born to broken homes than ever before, and as a result, the children are learning from their parents on how to BE hurt, and STAY hurt. This generational transfer is ongoing at a rapid rate, and this book defines who women and men are to be in Christ. If we are ever going to make an impact in this world, we have got to first stand up and be the example, not the norm. We are to raise the standard, and Bishop Eddie Long brings insight to relationships like none other I have ever heard. In addition, it is bibically sound.... he gives scriptures to follow up with the truth he hits you with. If you EVER want to be a true kingdom man, or kingdom woman, then be not just Hearers (or readers) of the Word, but doers. Apply this Word to your life and watch God perform the miraculous. It may be a hard thing to do because of how you have been trained your whole life, but break out of your box AND GET THIS BOOK!!! You can not afford to live without it. Break the cycle of broken relationships in your life, your family, and your bloodline. Be the first to stand up and say NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!

This is a very good book! I purchased this book with the leary thought it was going to be a "how to find a mate book". NOT THE CASE! I was pleasantly surprised to find that it not only gives a person understanding about expectations of a mate (with Biblical backup), it also also gives revelations and confirmations about what may (or may not) be within you. This book is a great guideline on how one may develop and/or better SELF to being the person that God wants you to be for Him and for a mate.

This book is for the young, the old, singles, married individuals, men, women.... EVERYONE. It is not just a book about finding a mate. It is for anyone wanting some insight into acheiving a closer relationship to God, their spouse, their child, etc. Wonderful information about various life situations. I would advise anyone/everyone to read this book (and practically have!). I love Eddie Long's candid writing style; it is like having a conversation with someone you already feel close to. I wish he had more books in print! Godspeed.

This book explains that one has to "get right" with God before attempting a relationship the opposite sex. I believe many books assume Christians know that or the authors just leave that out. This book is full of down to earth, back-to-basics teaching for singles and marrieds.

Bishop Eddie Long puts it down for us... you've got to read this book. He lays it out to you in plain english for us women as well as the men and throwing in the word ain't never hurt nobody either. I finished this book so fast and wanted more. He even gave some of his own recounts of the courtship with his wife. I've underlined info in the book and took notes this is a great book. I would highly recommend it to you all. We all can strive to grow stronger in Christ and after I read this I want to do just that... Exhale.. its gonna be alright!

I was referred to this book by a friend. I have watched Bishop Long on television, so I knew that his ministry was awesome. As a single woman, I found this book to be very insightful. I used to be a dominating woman who always had to have control, but I see that differently now, and I will let the man lead me, if he is a "Kingdom Man". I really like the fact that this book used scriptures as references. I have referred this book to so many of my single and married friends because I think we all benefit from the teachings in the book.

I initially purchased this book for a gentleman in my ministry as a Christmas gift. However, since I hadn't seen him in a while, I decided to pick it up and read it. This book is absolutely amazing. Bishop Long gives a personal story about his own struggle with the flesh. Some things will just cost us too much to get involved in.

If you are considering marriage, then you must understand the purpose of a man and the purpose of a woman from a biblical perspective. There is divine order in God's kingdom and we must learn how to submit. God does not bless mess. Bishop Long does a great job shedding some light on our distinct purposes in God.

From a marriage perspective, men and women were not created to have the same roles in the kingdom. Rather, man is to "guard" and cultivate everyone and everything God places in his life. For Christian men and women this book is a must read. Be Blessed!

A lot of times you'll read a review and decide from what is written whether you will buy the book, product, etc. I'm glad I didn't go this route when buying this book, if I had, I would have missed out on a great book.

Bishop Long is one of my favorite preachers because he gives it to you straight. You can tell he cares more about your soul than he cares about personal praise.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for answers on how to deal with relationships.

I have new found respect for Bishop Long after reading this book. Being unfamiliar with his preaching and even less familiar with his writing style, I went into it with no expectations. But the opening pages pulled me in and I was hooked. Because I am a Christian, what I LOVE about the book is that he sticks to the Word of God. You begin reading the book as a man or a woman and you think you're in for another literary read about the secrets of getting the girl, or getting the guy. But what Bishop Long really wants the reader to capture is the heart of God. The knowledge of God and a fulfilling relationship with God because that will be the key to unlocking the mystery behind what a man wants and what a woman needs. He unapologetically lets the reader know that despite what we may have heard, there are no shortcuts to getting a fulfilling relationship. You must develop a Kingdom mentality and get closer to God, in order to get closer to the mate God has designed for you. I would say this book is a MUST-READ especially for men who have grown out of love with God, or their purpose and destiny. I enjoyed the book so much, I ordered extra copies to sell in my church bookstore. Because Bishop Long sticks to the Word of God, I will be sure to read more books from him. If you're looking to find the latest trends in dating, or what perfume to wear that will attract him, or what to say that will attract her, this book isn't for you. However, if you desire a mate of God's choosing as well as the desire to please God, then this book will meet you at your point of need and help you to grow.

This is a great book overall, and the contents are valuable to those already married, planning to get married or even those who are thinking about separating. There is no better way to set the standards for your marriage but with the Author and Finisher "The Lord God".
