This book is a devestating critic of the overpopulation myth with US government and UN statistics to boot! Dr. Kasun is not a politician, rather she is a distinguished professor of economics at Humbolt University. Chock full of statistics, this book is a must read. Forget Al Gore, George Soros, Ted Turner and other Malthusian nuts, they are WRONG and this book proves it.

When done reading this book, dig up a copy of the now out of print, "Trashing the Planet" by Dixie Lee Ray and Lou Guzzo.

I make it a point to read books attacked by most for being ideologically biased, while others hold the same book up as an example of clear thinking.

Read the book for yourself.
Any open minded person will find her arguments to be:
sound, rational, clear, and correct!

It has many statistics that prove all the evidence given by the author. The statistics come from reliable sources. It is a very good book.

Clear, well annotated, to the point. A tremendous resource

With a Rating System of 1-5, I'd rate this book a 10! Jacqueline Kasun's perspectives regarding the scope, means, hidden agendas, and power manipulation - of and by the elitists in government(s) and special interests groups,as they pertain to Population Control, are insightful and thought-provoking. All pertinent source information is well-documented (often from multiple sources)as footnotes at the bottom of the page. Delving into the footnote/source material via the internet - only substantiates the author's perspectives.
This book is a MUST Read. I appreciate the author's straight-forward approach to factual, substantiated and well-documented evidence, that allows the reader to think for themselves - before forming an opinion.
Jacqueline Kasun does present her opinions and insights into the subject of Population Control, past and on-going, but does so in a manner that focuses on leaving each of us with the ability to make an informed decision on our own.
This book contains factual information that the media and "powers that be" don't want us to know.

Jacquelin Kasun - a Professor in Economics, mother, and eloquent defender of life- did an excellent job, as poited out among others by Julian Simon.
His competent and penetrating analysis will be remembered for many years to come.

Dr. Kasun, an ecomonics professor, has thoroughly researched this subject and written this insightful book. The book was updated in 1999, and has lost none of its relevancy. I found this comment about her book:

If you are wondering about the issues of population growth, population loss, or population control, I highly recommend this excellent book.

This book is not meant to be read straight through, chapter after chapter, but it's primary purpose is as a reference. Hundreds of footnotes citing studies, papers, newspaper articles, other books etc. which deal with issues of overpopulation. The book covers major people, such as Paul Ehrlich and Margaret Sanger, who have heavily contributed to the current "thinking" concerning overpopulation, as well as major groups, like Rockefeller, whose agenda is heavily influenced by the threat of overpopulation and scarcity of resources. The book does an excellent job of giving important information, graphs, and charts which show that there is no overpopulation problem, and that it is only a tool used to push things like contraception, abortion, and sterilization. Malthus and Ehrlich were both proven horribly wrong during their lifetimes, yet many still hold to their dogma.

This book is controversial. It is controversial because it offers a point of view - backed up by copious amounts of factual data from scholarly sources - that is contrary to 99.9% of the available "information" on the world's population "problem". If one is to be truly rational in one's actions, opinions, beliefs and allegiences in this manner, it is imperative to question the assumptions on which one's view of reality are based.

The interpretation of population statistics is complex. This being the only book I have come across that makes a serious attemt to question and test what others simply assume, I cannot be 100% convinced that the state of the world is exactly as this author has ultimately interpreted it - but if only 5% of the conclusions drawn in this book are "unbiased", there is sufficient evidence to suggest that there has been a sustained, conscious effort by "powers that be" to produce evidence of an overly-populated world that is substantialy more rhetoric than fact. Could it be that the political and intellectual leaders of our consumer-driven Western world simply find it more expedient to blame "over-population" for the world's economic, environmental, and sociological crises, than to seriously question the values that underpin their own policies?

The time has come for us to be mnore holistic in our approach to the world's - that is, the human family's - collective problems. This book is a start.

I have not read this yet. It must really be good, judging by the one-star reviews.
Read "Heartland G's" review - then go look at her other reviews. Amusing stufff about brainwashing, art-fraud, and the KKK and so on.

The value of this book is that at least I was amused reading her vitriole.
