5.0 out of 5 stars Cogent overview of a complicated history
This is a short, excellent text for college students, or any educated person wanting to understand church tradition and practice on war and violent resistance. This review is from: War: A Primer for Christians (Paperback)
This is a short, excellent text for college students, or any educated person wanting to understand church tradition and practice on war and violent resistance. It is remarkably clear and uses examples to advantage. I would say the writer favors just war theory, but acknowledges as such; which is certainly better than pretending complete objectivity. This book has only about 60 pages and half of it is trying to sell his opinion. He also used Israel alot as an example of the Just War doctrine. While it was written about a decade ago, considering all the news coming out recently about that Nation's policies and tactics (and the fact that their military targets includes the population of Holy Land Christians), I think it really seems outdated and even sort of backfires in his efforts towards making a case for that approach.
