More About the Author

Danica Williams is a writer and teacher from California. As a child Danica was a poor reader and was pulled from class daily for reading intervention. What could have been a negative experience turned out to be a life changing experience. While other children felt stigmatized by attending remedial reading classes daily, Danica formed a special bond with her reading teacher, Ms. Alcott, and flourished in what she felt was a safe learning environment. In addition to the time that Danica was pulled for reading intervention class daily, she also enjoyed spending her recess and lunch time in reading class with Ms. Alcott. Once her mother was contacted by Ms. Alcott and made a part of the learning process by reading with Danica nightly, Danica went from being a poor reader to an advanced reader. Soon Danica went from spending her free time reading books to spending her free time writing stories and poems. In high school she took advanced English courses and when she graduated she was accepted to Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Danica earned her Bachelor's Degree in English Arts from Hampton University and went on to earn her Master's Degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from Loyola Marymount University in California.

War of the Colbertsons is a story of two sisters who have nothing but hate for one another. Kimberly is a success driven plastic surgeon, who wears expensive clothes, drives a flashy car, and dates men that can afford to lavish her with gifts. She is very shallow and thinks of no one but herself. Marlo is a conservative housewife, who longs to be a mother and spends her days caring for her sick father.
Joseph Colbertson has begged his daughters for years to resolve their differences, but they are both too stubborn to give in. With their mother passed away, now that Marlo is pregnant and her father has become gravely ill, his biggest fear is that his future grandchildren and great-grandchildren will never know each other. In a final act of desperation, Joseph comes up with a plan to try to get his daughters to resolve their differences, become friends, and start acting like family.
Will Joseph’s plan work? Is he able to bring the girls together again or will his plan backfire and they come out of this worse than it has ever been between them?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Danica has done an excellent job with character development. I enjoyed getting to know each character and the transformation of some. Excellent! She was very skilled in drawing me into the storyline. It was very interesting how she took me through the lives of this dysfunctional sisterly relationship. These sisters both had issues that neither wanted to admit to or deal with. I loved how the story showed that it is not an easy task to mend broken fences which made it that much more interesting. I found myself looking forward to how this story would end.
I also enjoyed the subplots as much as the main plot. The friendships and relationships that were developed were a nice surprise.

This novel was awesome. From the first page, you are pulled into the dysfunctional relationship of sisters Marlo and Kimberly. Marlo is an ideal wife and soon to be mother and Kimberly is the ambitious one who is both shallow and self-centered. The author chose a very interesting way to force these sisters to deal with each other and their issues once and for all. As they work on their relationship, we learn so much about them as individuals and all of the reasons for their confusion. What I particularly liked is that nothing is easy or wrapped up with a nice bow. These characters have real issues with no easy fixes. They just have to do the work to get to the other side. There are some pleasant surprises along the way.

I laughed, I gasped in shock, and once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. It was a great story with great characters, who I felt I knew by the end of the novel.

I loved this story about two sisters and the life they each live apart and together. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed getting to know each one. Once I began reading the book, I found it hard to put down. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to read about a family, the struggles they face, and the peace they learn to make.

This author has done it again. "War of the Colbertsons" was an excellent read and I am going to recommend this book to family and friends. I hope that some day this book will be made into a movie. Are you listening Tyler Perry?
