War of the Gates: Book Two of the Hylnan War Trilogy
– May 28, 2012
In Rhillai, there is no High King. The nine dukes fight amongst themselves for the coveted seat. The mage Alisandra plots to put a puppet on the throne - someone that she can control. In her attempt to rule all of Rhillai, she opens a Gate to another world and brings in the Hylnan, an alien race bent on destroying everything in sight. Caught between the Hylnan, the warring dukes, and Alisandra are the Warders. They control access to magical Gates which connect Rhillai to the Elven homeworld. Given shape shifting powers by the Elves to better protect the Gates, the Warders must fight the oncoming power struggles in order to save their friends and family. Drawn together by the need to survive, a rag tag army forms to fight the Hylnan. Men, some dwarves, and a handful of Warders come together, but they know it isn't enough. In the rugged mountains of the northeast, the full force of the dwarves live apart from the rest of the world. Their way of life is rugged and full of battle. Knowing that only this dwarven army can withstand the Hylnan, a few make the dangerous trek through the Hylnan forces to bring down the dwarven army. For all living on Rhillai, it is the beginning of the end for the Hylnan wage a war of death and destruction. But, a common enemy binds unlikely people, or even unlikely beings, into becoming allies.
