What can I say? This is the one thing that kept me sane as a teenager growing up in a one parent household, not even a house, but a town home rental in low income housing. School was HELL ON EARTH!! I was the oldest of three and also had to play the part of brother and father!! I am gratefull that I had the example of Captain Apollo (Richard Hatch) and Adama (Lorne Green) who became good role models at a very difficult time in my life, they helped shape me into the good person I am today. Thank you Glen Larson, the creator of Battlestar Galactica and the fine cast!! I will remember you all for the rest of my life!!

Tim

What can I say, this show is a guilty pleasure of mine. When
ABC first advertised the show, I thought " Oh god, not a cheap tv star wars ripoff" But watching it on tv, I became hooked. The special effects, especially the combat scenes were pretty good. Of course, to save money they used a lot of the footage more than once, but every sci-fi show has done that at one time or another. Ever since BG classic went off the air, I've looked high and low for a set of tapes or dvds, but the price was always prohibitive. Now thanks to Amazon's online library of tv shows, I can finally own the series. My all time favorite episodes are "The Living Legend parts 1 and 2, The gun on ice planet zero parts 1 and 2 and the entire ship of lights storyline. It saddened me that BG classic didn't get a longer run. The networks have almost always been hostile to science fiction shows, even when they bring in good ratings due to higher budgets.

There is a saying were all familiar with "If it isn't broke don't fix it" Battlestar Galactica is a classic example of this. To remake the series was criminal and true fans will agree that to revisit a piece of art and make any changes to it only detracts from what was originally done. Could you see the "Mona Lisa" redone with her teeth showing?

I was a kid when Battlestar Galactica hit the movie theaters and became a television show. I think I was 12 years old at the time. Anyway, I loved it almost as much I loved Star Trek (TOS). My favorite character was Starbuck, the brash, cocky young Viper Pilot who was not only a ladies' man, but the best pilot Galactica had. And Athena, played by Maren Jensen, was the hottest woman (still is from my account, though she gave up Hollywood years ago) on any television show, with Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter) a close second!

This episode was as cheesy and wonderful as any other. Four of the Galactica's Vipers encounter orbs of light while on patrol. They are soon overtaken by a large, crystalline like structure that disables the Vipers and their pilots. On the Galactica, a Triad match is going on between pilots. After the game, Colonel Tigh and Commander Adama brief the pilots concerning the situation of the missing Viper patrol. While on patrol, Apollo, Starbuck, and Sheba (Sheba is Commander Cain's daughter from the episodes "Living Legend" Parts one and two) investigate a planet that has an eerie red glow about it, and is uninhabited according to the Viper's sensors. They find the crash site of a ship and an odd man named Count Iblis. The Count seems strange, evasive and is presumed to be the only survivor of the crash. The Count is taken to the Galactica.

Count Iblis soon begins to influence many of the Galactica's crew, especially Sheba, who seems to fall for him. Commander Adama, anxious to find out who Count Iblis really is, questions him, asking the Count who his enemies are. The Count reveals his understanding of humans, and his plan to lead the fleet to Earth.

I am watching this so that I feel like I'm getting my Amazon Prime moneys worth. It's entertaining for it's date. They over use several words, but I still like it.

I was sick all my life so I thought wow look how far a culture could get. the cylons brains being put into machines and living a 1000 yarns (years) old that would be nice. Glen Larson and his pals did a good job first season. but somebody took all the money the 2 season and it was like the first cheese ball sci-fi from the 40's. Adama as father time and boomer as a sec rate colonel tigh really sucked. but I also like the music in the first season.
p.s. can't stand the new battle star galactica it sssssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....

We loved it, but there was one problem. The 5th episode, "The Long Patrol," was not on the disk. The BONUS deleted scenes were on there, but the actual episode was not. We had to watch that episode on Amazon Prime Videos before we could resume watching the disks.

I first watched this show when I was in 3rd grade. I'm pretty sure I drove my parents crazy with make believe laser pistols and pretending my bike was a cylon spaceship. Great memories!
