Bad Book, January 5, 2011
This review is from: War, Media, and Propaganda: A Global Perspective (Paperback)
This is a terrible book. I was turned off within the first few pages of reading this overly dramatic liberal slander. I get it, people have issues with the war in Iraq and they're entitled to their own opinion but let's face it, hindsight is 20/20. I have no doubt that mistakes were made and journalist are right to point out the mistakes of our leadership, but to flat out accuse our elected officials of waging this elaborate propaganda campaign is ridiculous. Furthermore, the book even makes the bold accusation to vilify American politicians by comparing them to Pinochet, Stalin, and Hitler. Perhaps the greatest pitfall of this book is the reoccurring theme that the omniscient authors bestow their wisdom upon the average layperson because apparently we are too naive to come to our own conclusions about current events. The proverbial "rabbit out of the hat" has fooled everyone over the last few years except the authors. Clearly, the contributors, who are more deserving of the title as "left wing conspiracy theorists," are writing through a narrow lens and do not share the view points of most Americans. I am waiting for the chapter telling me that prior to this elaborately concocted propaganda campaign, the government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks. Save yourself the time and money, and don't bother with this book.
