yeah i know this is old g.g. songs and spoken word mixed, but it goes together really well. the music provided by shrinkwrap gives the album a wierd feel. it almost sounds like a 45 minute flipper song with g.g. allin ranting in the backround. very crazy concept album

Thank God this album is so short, if it were any longer there would be the very real threat that you would never emerge from GG's Crazyland. Enjoy his sick genius, visit this album, just make sure you can find your way back out again.

Ravings of Music's Last Great Hope,

Granted, this is not Allin's best release, but it is one that gives the chaos inside his mind a voice (and soundtrack by Shrinkwrap). And yes, the spoken word bit is recycled, but the music gives it new life.
Allin's thoughts are laid bare here, and while it's not surprising, it does give those who don't know anything about him a place to start (and I recommend reading the CD insert, too). I knew the man -- this is pretty right on. Allin was many things to many people, but one fact that can't be disputed is that he really was music's last great hope. He set out to destroy convention and make rock 'n' roll dangerous again, and he succeeded. Sure, parents got scared of Mr. Manson and the image he changed more than Madonna, but that's because they never heard Allin. Get this CD and get acquainted with the last true master of rock.

GG Allin's most intimate record,
By A Customer
This review is from: War In My Head/I'm Your Enemy (Audio CD)
As a GG Allin fan, I was disgusted to see such poor reviews given to one of his best works. To the simple-minded who believe GG was an extremist showman, this album seems like rambling over a bunch of incoherent guitars. But anyone who listens more closely will realize that this is GG's most intimate album ever; the only one that truly captures his riotous mind. This piece of art is comparable to Hamlet and Crime and Punishment in terms of the chaos and disorder it puts down, and is easily a must for anyone who appreciates good art.

Essential Allin,
By A Customer
This review is from: War In My Head/I'm Your Enemy (Audio CD)
"Self-Absorbed." "Die for Two." "The Leading Man." Fans of G. G. Allin's poetry are as familiar with these titles as fans of Emily Dickinson are with "I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died." When Allin decided to do a spoken-word CD, he went full-bore, recruiting Pittsburgh ominous-hardcore outfit Shrinkwrap to do the musical honors. Few bands' music could underline the anger and violence latent in Allin's words the way Shrinkwrap does. Where Allin's musical compositions lean towards (okay, are fully immersed in) the juvenile, silly, and generally "I worte it for the shock value," his poetry gives a glimpse into the mind and soul of one of America's most individual-- and brilliant-- minds. _War in My Head/I'm Your Enemy_ is absolutely essential Allin.

One would think a collaboration between G.G. and Shrinkwrap Progaganda, the East coast's premier noisemongers, would be a can't miss. But it is and it does. The CD consists of one track, featuring some of G.G.'s observations about how much he hates society and how intensely he lives his own life, backed by Shrinkwrap's sterility-inducing sounds (and I mean that in a good way!). The thing of it is, though, with G.G. you expect clear flowing melodies, and that surely isn't the case here. Potential new G.G. fans steer clear! I love G.G. Allin, but I don't like this CD. Does anybody?

GG was in prison and had nothing to do with this album being made and released. M. Physema from the band Shrinkwrap (who's a great guy)just took the spoken word cuts from GG & ANTiSEEN's "Murder Junkies" album (with GG's permission, of course) and layered them over samples of GG's songs from his old albums. That's it, nothing new here. Just buy the original albums.

This is NOT a recommended G.G. Allin album. All they did was recycle the spoken word from G.G. Allin & Anti-Seen's Murder Junkies and have a second rate band play and scream in the background. I was hoping for some original G.G., but didn't get it with this album. Definately NOT recommended to even the most diehard G.G. fan.
