3.0 out of 5 stars A treasury of spiritual understanding for these last days.
If you have had no previous experience with demonic powers (channelling, possession, etc) either prior to or since becoming a Christian, you need to read this book. The Word of God urges us to not be ignorant of the enemy's devices. In these last days, the devil will even masquerade himself as an angel of light, performing miracles, signs, and wonders, that he will...

Dear Potential Purchasers of WAR ON THE SAINTS: PLEASE BUY THIS BOOK NOW, buy several of them and give some away; for by doing so you keep the truth alive among us.There is simply no other book extant in this world which is remotely near to equal to WAR ON THE SAINTS on the subject matter of the relationship between the Word of God and the Spirit of God. This is THE address to the false revival going on in places like Pensacola and London, and the fact that it was written so long ago makes this book prophetic. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE UNABRIDGED VERSION BY THOMAS E. LOWE COMPANY - forget the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best in its class!, October 10, 2001
This review is from: War on the Saints, The Full Text, Unabridged Edition (Hardcover)
War on the Saints (unabridged edition) is the absolute classic work on spiritual warfare and demonic oppression of Christians and non-Christians by the devil and his demonic forces bar none. It is the foundation of similar works by authors Mark Bubeck, Neil Anderson, and Kurt Koch on the same subect. If you will read and memorize the definitions in the beginning of the book, the book makes total sense. If you do not, you will be aruguing with the author's statements. I have ministered to countless "everyday" people that struggle with the exact same battles and issues documented in this book. It is an eye-opener for every believing child of God and a must read for all those who seek to biblically counsel and minister to others both Christian and non-Christian. An awesome work! Buy it and give it to your Pastor!

5.0 out of 5 stars " . . .when I became a man, I put away childish things.", October 19, 1998
This review is from: War on the Saints, The Full Text, Unabridged Edition (Hardcover)
This book is not for the "weak" Christian! It is replete with spiritual truth that will overwhelm those who are not well grounded in the Word of God. The faint-hearted need not read it, for with it will most assuredly come trials from the enemy of your soul who does not want you to appropriate these truths. I've read and studied both the abridged and the unabridged versions, and would recommend either - the abridged for younger (in the Lord) Christians, and the unabridged for those ready and able to handle the "meatier" spiritual matters. Arm yourselves, men and women of God, with the truth of this book and go out to do battle in His Name and by the power of His blood!

5.0 out of 5 stars I have the original version, September 20, 2006
This review is from: War on the Saints, The Full Text, Unabridged Edition (Hardcover)
I have the original version which a friend gave me many years ago. I have no idea why he gave me the book and if he had ever read it himself. I simply placed the book somewhere in my house. I have been suffering from pains in the side of my head for 18 years. One day for some reason I picked up this book and starting reading it and could feel goose bumps and my eyes coming out of their sockets. I could not believe that I was agreeing with Jesse Penn-Lewis on so many of the heretical things she was accused of. The Spirit of God testifies to the truth- I started for the first time to realise that I was sick and that most of current Christianity had been the cause of the sickness.

It was the beginning of a journey of seeking out the truth. After time the pains have gone and the book was a start onto a journey of unpeeling all the nonsense and lies taught by well to do evangelicals and charismatics, the many books and sermons I have read/listened to and the brainwashing that comes from psycological manipulation and human wisdom. Witchcraft and the spirit of the anti Christ is not about old women on broomsticks, it is about candy coated christianity that gives out some truth but also transmits lies together with it. Penn-Lewis teaches that it is God's will for us to doubt something that is not clear and plain, to test the spirits to see if they are from God. When someone speaks, they are in a spiritual mode and are transmitting things to you. If you do not feel encouraged, cleansed, empowered and your conscience has not been purged by the gospel being preached but instead you feel weak and confused even by the seemingly holiest and best of preachers, then you are receiving demonic spirits from them. These are mind twisting spirits making you think excessively and justify everything you do. They are dirty but masquerade behind "angels of light"

I was too afraid to question every leader, every speaker and especially those who at some point in my life had transmitted grace by their words. How dare I stand up and say and think what my spirit inside me is telling me. Reading this book should give you some courage and help you quit being a coward in the face of the religious condemnation you are receiving.

If someone is talking rubbish we must reject it and quit making excuses to protect their spirituality. There are many things in this book worth considering carefully. Take one of them for example concerning "dual streams" where truth is transmitted with lies from the sincerest of preachers. Have you ever wondered why most Christians have no liberty to discuss the things of God and those who do seem like fanatics? Why we can't we talk "normally" about the things of God. Why does it have to be hyped up in a church building? If God is in us.. then He is in our homes our lives and everywhere and God is peace and does not drive us into insanity or make us look stuipd or ridiculous in front of others.

Have you ever wondered why most evangelicals and many charismatics act like cowards in the world or who have a trite answer for everything. Have you ever thought that it is the will of satan to lock up true believers and paralyze them so that they no longer have a mind or will of their own. Many Christians who think they are suffering for their faith are actually being ridiculed for their inability to use their minds to resolve issues. It is like a whole army of zombies are being created. This is what the power of the law does to people.. it is not grace. Grace frees a person to think and to act. God does not take away our will but He empowers our actions.

This sickness we see in others and maybe even in ourselves is what Penn-Lewis called "passivity" and the whole world is plagued by it. It is where people have lost their powers of reasoning in the spiritual realm and are living in total confusion about what is from God and what is not from God.

I hope this book starts to do for you what it has done for me. I would like to write more about this but its better you read the book yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the top 3 books on the subject, November 19, 2001

Mark Bubeck's "Overcoming the Adversary" discusses the
religious Ephesians 6 text in general. "Pigs in the
Parlor" gives a good overview. This book gives the
nuts and bolts of details needed.

This UNABRIDGED edition of a classic covers
comprehensively the subject of spiritual warfare.
There are numerous lists and 2 very significant
diagrams in the book which summarize what
is a well thought out and organized discussion
focusing on the potential problems of
passivity, ignorance, and deception in a
person's life.

The summary diagram on page 102 is
particularly instructive. It gives lists of
specific examples in 6 different areas:
how evil spirits deceive
the ground given for deception
where they enter
symptoms of their presence
excuses used to cover ground
effects in and through the believer.

A list on page 253 gives a correspondence
with the spiritual weaponry discussed in
Ephesians 6, in terms of concepts
discussed in the book.

Besides being better organized than the
other editions of this book, it also uses
a much more beautiful type font.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on the subject, January 11, 2004
By
Eddy (Netherlands) - See all my reviews
This review is from: War on the Saints, The Full Text, Unabridged Edition (Hardcover)
You can only judge this book when diving into the history of the Welsh Revival, and by reading the biographies of JPL and Evan Roberts. The objective person will find that much prejudice coming from the charismatic movement, is totally ungrounded. Some claim the writers are anti-charismatic, which is a blunt lie, they only warn against soulical counterfeits (human or satanic) of the gifts of God manifested in and through the human spirit. The sad thing is that many christians today do not even know the difference between spirit and soul; it's no wonder then there are so many counterfeits in the church today. The authors have had their characters slandered by many who have not achieved in their entire lifespan what the authors have accomplished in a few years. The experiences are those of Evan Roberts, and JPL added her insights to it, which produced the book. To suggest that JPL 'used' Evan Roberts is not true. I have experienced a number of things things in the book, and when I got the book, it really opened my eyes. This book is not a book for babies in the faith, and when someone compares it with a book like Pigs in the Parlor by Hammond, it really boggles my mind; it only shows the deep and utter ignorance concerning ones own inability to judge spiritual matters. Only those who have experienced the murderous onslaughts of the spiritual hosts of wickedness, will appreciate the book, and for such it was written. As the authors said, 'the light will reach those who need it.'

The original 1912 and 1925 editions have additional diagrams and drawings with accompanying text, two pages with notes from letters of readers, and one article by Evan Roberts about spiritual warfare, taken from The Overcomer. But the Thomas Lowe version really is the full text. No chapters are missing. Just the diagrams, drawings, some letters from readers and Evan Roberts' two page article. That's all.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book on demonology in the world, May 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: War on the Saints, The Full Text, Unabridged Edition (Hardcover)
I have experienced a number of things Jessie Penn-Lewis wrote about in War on the Saints. There is no other book in the whole world, that explains in such detail, demonic supernatural experiences that look like Divine experiences, but are not from God. I will quote something from the foreword of the 7th edition of the original text: "There are other books dealing with the subject of demon influence, but from a different point of view. They relate specific cases and their cure or attempted cure. War on the Saints, however, deals with the nature of the work of demons and their methods and tactics. It is the only book on this important subject." So publisher, keep publishing it, the original text that is!

There is not enough preached on warfare these days. Paul stated over and over in the NT that we don't fight against flesh and blood but against demons! Don't fool with the unabridged version unless you are young in the faith. Get this book and books by Neil Anderson as well. This is a great book that every pastor and Sunday School teacher should read.

Satan is alive and well. If you are ignorant of warfare and his devices, then you are probably losing the war!
