Art Imitating Life,
By Paul C (Cayce, South Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: War Songs and Poems of the Southern Confederacy (Hardcover)
If you want to understand how the South viewed itself, its heroes, and its cause, look to the poets, artist, and song writers of the era who gave a voice to the masses. The politicians and partisan fire-eaters, who get most of the press, often fail to bring the human and emotional depth of the people of the Southern Confederacy. If you want to see the soul of this people, this is the book.
