amazing thrash band .......,
This review is from: War Without End (Audio CD)
not much else to say about this album besides it is a must and i mean must own for thrash fans . it pulls influence from every great thrash band of the past to just make their own killer sound ......... to me, its like Artillery meets Destruction with just a slight dash of Slayer ..... but so much more. great breaks, great solos, ripping drums and bass and intense vocals. i cant say enough about these guys , and i hear they are like 18 years old .... absolutly insane. there is some great things goin on in the Cali thrash scene, check out merciless death, fueled by fire,avenged in blood, dekapitator ..... u aint metal if u dont dig this.

WARBRINGER = Killer Thrash Band,

I have to say these guys are quite impressive to say the least. I am an old school metal head who owns hundreds of thrash metal Cd's mostly from the golden era who happens to live in WARBRINGER's home town. I actually met a couple of these guys a while ago as they stopped me one night and stated talking metal due to a concert T shirt I had on at the time. They are quite young and were at that time still in high school. I though it was cool that they were up on the old stuff but to tell you the truth was a little skeptical about their band they told me about. That was until I got hold their EP "One By One The Wicked Fall". I was in total shock at how good it was ( and is ) when I first slapped it into my CD player!!
And now with the release of their first full length CD I am even more astounded by the immensely killer sonic destruction that lays waste to my friggin' brain ears & house every time I crank this gem up on my system. If I was ever in doubt that a group of kids ( hey I'm old alright ) just out of high school and missing the heyday of thrash by 20 years could thrash with the best of them ( I mean that!!! ) than let it be said that I no longer doubt!!! These guys own your soul. If you dig killer aggressive thrash metal played with style and a aircraft carrier load of musical talent then buy this CD now !!!! It's worth twice this price or more !!!! Thrash 'Til Death baby cause this CD might kill ya !! :p

Well, as you may know Thrash Metal kind of died as a thriving genre back in, oh say 1990 or so... Well, apparently over the past few years, I'd say starting around 2000/2001, it began a revival, with old school '80s bands either reuniting or going back to their roots (refering to Germany's Destruction and Kreator). So it was probably no surprise that about around that time, other bands started to form that played the classic '80s sounding thrash. And of course, it takes a handful of years before a burgeoning band is able to get their first major album recorded and distributed worldwide. Warbringer is one of these bands. Forming in 2004, and getting their debut album released in 2008. It's clear from their sound and vocal style that they get a lot of their influence from the German Thrash bands, namely Kreator, Sodom, and Destruction. They even credit Mille Petrozzi in their liner notes.
That said, how is their debut album? Pretty good, both musically and production wise. Vocals are great, like i said they are very similar to Mille's. The one thing that I wished they would do more often, is to change up their tempos of bit. They need some melodic sections in the middle of their songs to break up the straight up thrash riffs. They do to some extent, but they're not nearly long or varied enough. As the songs themselves are generally in the 3-4 minute range. To really get variety in one's songs, they need to be in the 4-6 minute range. Kreator's songs are in this range and they do have that melodic part. Exodus, or who I like to call the epic thrashers, write songs that often go into the 7-8 minute ranges. Almost progessive metal territory. But anyway, Warbringer is a great new school thrash revival band. Probably one of the better ones out of all those out there, as I sampled and compared each one before I picked which one to give a try. I give this album 4 stars for a valient effort, but minus one for lack of the melodic interludes which would really improve their music. I haven't listened to their follow-up album yet, so I don't know how the two compare. So in closing, if you're in the mood for some old school thrash with new production and sound, along with the talent to deliver, try Warbringer. Oh, just one more thing, the one thing that I find that can make or break a band is their vocalist. If the music is great, but vocalists either sucks or doesn't compliment the music very well, then I don't usually buy their music. Warbringer's vocals fit perfectly with the music, as it draws heavy influence from Kreator's Mille.

Killer Thrash Metal,

I picked this up from the local library and when I popped it in my CD player I did a double take to make sure this was actually a fairly new album and not something from the 80's reissued on Century Media. It sounded like the best of 80's thrash including the Tom Araya early 80's scream a la "Tormentor" and with good production to boot. I don't give this a 5 because this style has been done before but if I could give it a 4.5 I would because it is that good. These guys can play and the production on this album is top notch. If you like thrash then this will blow your mind end of story.

Thrash Metal Revival,

I normally don't go for modern bands but I decided to give some new bands with the thrash metal style a try as I'm an avid listner to the Big 4 of Thrash (Exculding Slayer).
I was blown away when I listened to Warbringer for the first time. Every song is pure Thrash Metal, from the 1st track "Total War" to the last track "Epicus Maximus" it is Speed and Heaviness to the MAX. The vocals are heavier than I'm used to but it's grown on me with the Menacing Growls and Screaches that litter every song. The guitarists Have pure speed and the ability to have some great solos that remind me of Kirk Hammett. The songs are in the 3-4 Min. long scale which is perfect for Thrash Metal. My pesonal favorite songs are "Systematic Genocide" "Dread Command" ,"Shoot to Kill" , and "Combat Shock" In closing if you like Thrash Metal in the slightest this is an Album you need.

Saw this band at a recent Killfest concert in Hartford CT which included a number of support bands to Overkill. The others were good, but although relatively young Warbringer was the real standout of the bunch.
Very reminiscent of early Exodus and other old school thrash, they were also very entertaining and had a great stage presence. I bought this CD at the concert and I have been playing it in the car ever since. Great guitar work for such young dudes, sticking to pure thrash and doing it really, really well. The future is bright for this band. None of the songs disappoint but some standouts if I was forced to choose are `Systematic Genocide' and `Shoot to Kill'. Honestly though - they are all good. The production is ok-ish for a first CD and they needed to increase the prominence of the vocals a bit. That said the CD is still very much worth buying. If I had known their recorded music was this good, I would have bought their new CD too.

Warbringer are part of the new wave of thrash metal music that's coming out nowadays. They're one of the few underground bands that are leading the thrash metal revival in the west coast area of the U.S., along with Municipal Waste and Evile these guys are just amazing. War Without End is just a furious, headbanging and highly aggressive album that thrashes from start to finish. These guys are all pretty young most probably not even born yet when bands like Megadeth, Metallica and Exodus first started making this type of music. Don't let that dismay you though as Warbringer have obviously studied their Bay Area thrash very well, War Without End which is a solid throwback to that era. The album musically sounds like a cross between early Exodus, Testament, Death Angel and Metallica with razor sharp riffs and solos from Adam Carroll and John Laux flying all over the place, pummeling drum blasts courtesy of Ryan Bates, rumbling bass from Andy Laux and vocals from John Kevill who sounds like 90's period Chuck Schuldiner, I love those kind of vocals!. It's really hard to pick some highlights from this ripping album as each track is more solid than the next, but ones to look out for are At the Crack of Doom with it's brilliant acoustic intro, Total War, Instruments of Torture (complete with plenty of mosh sections like it was 1987 all over again!), the insane frenzy of Born of the Ruins and the last track Combat Shock (check out the music video on YouTube!). War Without End is a fantastic sounding thrash CD and a great reminder of how lethal the mid-80's thrash scene was. With up and coming bands like Warbringer bringing the goods and veterans like Exodus and Megadeth making triumphant returns, we might just see a resurgence of the genre yet. This is thee thrash album of 2008.........
