Format: Hardcover
This is not just another book about the occupation of Holland, Evert Hartman tells a story about a young boy who's father is with the NSB, a dutch nazi collaborators party. The boy is indoctrinated and believes in the nazi-ideals. Hartman tells the reader in a very realistic way how this boys live is in occupated Holland, how all the children in school hate and bully him, how he enjoys the nazi party rally end how tough it is for him to understand his difficult father. But slowly things start to change and the boy realises that the nazi's may be wrong. His whole world gets turned upside down and a dramatic climax concludes this amazing story. If you want to know what happened between 1940 and 1945 from both sides read this book. It is a anti-war and anti-nazism book but still it makes you understand how it all was for somebody that actually bought the nazi nonsense.
