5.0 out of 5 stars OLD LAMPS FOR NEW, July 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: War of the Wing-Men
who is to say if the latest herbert prequel is more sophisticated or is a better book. all i know is this story rocks. the sad thing is i literally see these books disappearing from the library shelves to make room for the new titles. war of the wing-men was originally issued in 1958. these stories have a different feel to them, and they are way cool. start watching the library shelves. herbert, asimov, and heinlein have nothing to worry about YET, but look out for the poul andersons, and the clifford simaks. its these very books that have seemingly overnight become endangered. try to find good homes for your old copies, and take care of them; they aren't being reprinted!

2.0 out of 5 stars A old fashioned sci-fi story!, April 7, 1999
When I read this book I was only twenty years old. In general, I think that the plot line and characterizations aren't so good, but the story has a certain charm and style that resemble some old sci-fi classics of the 30's, like Flash Gordon and The Red Purple Monster. That is the most positive point of the book; but Anderson did other better works, like, for example, Tau Zero and Unlimited Orbit.
