3.0 out of 5 stars More than meets the eye February 24, 2010
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This is a game in the flight-sim genre. There is a lot of gameplay here, but you need to work at it! If you are new to this flight sim series, definitely do the training offered in the beginning, and pay particular attention to how the views work. After completing the training, fly the campaign missions which lead you through 1-v-1,2-v-2,3-v-3 scenarios, on up to massive aerial battles with hundreds of aircraft in the air! On the higher levels, the AI is particularly deadly. There are also "bonus" instant-action missions which become available after you reach a certain level in the campaign, as well as lots of additional training missions, and "free flight" modes. In general, the offline portion of the game can be a lot of fun!

While the offline campaign play is great for honing your fighter-pilot skills, you must try out the online game to really get the "Warbirds Experience". The game offers a free 30-day online account (click go online, and then account setup). Online, you will find lots of players from around the world who, besides shooting you down, will also offer help and assistance.

The graphics, while not jaw-dropping, are decent and well designed for the flight-sim genre. The interface isn't as smooth as it could be, but functions well enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Combat and Great Challenge March 27, 2010
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
For those who don't know how competitive the players who play other flight sims are, just read some of the reviews of this product but those people. They knock Dogfights as they are not very good at it!

WarBirds Dogfights is a fun, challenging, and accurate combat flight sim.

One guy claimed to have flown real airplanes. I would bet not much. He does not know what an accelerated stall is? Some combat pilot!

I have 4500 hours a military flying, taught flying for five years, and recognize the different flight models in different types of aircraft.

WarBirds Dogfights takes a good pilot, a good eye, and a willing to learn how to really fly combat.

WarBirds Dogfights is not about ground visuals but about great ballistics, great flight models, and great challenge against great AI.

And then where you are ready, go fly online (For Free) using the link inside the game to get a [...] online account.

See how really good you are at flying against real online pilots.

If anyone wants to show how good they really are, the CEO of the Interactive Magic offered a FREE Gaming Laptop to anyone who can beat him air to air in Mustangs!

I thought the game was an excellent flight sim, an excellent training software, and great fun!

Check Six and Good Luck.

5.0 out of 5 stars great combat simulator October 13, 2011
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Warbirds dogfights...both the ww11 and red baron simulators are excellent combat flight simulators...but you have to fly them,if you expect that its going to be a just jump in there and shoot them down sort of game you are in for dissapointment. It takes commitment and hours of combat practice to stand your ground in a fight and you have to use your head! Tactics, tactics,is what its all about...that and knowing what your aircraft is capable of and what your opponents is not able to do...otherwise you are going to be shot down pronto!
Each aircraft has its own airframe limitations, its own strengths and weakness's and it takes time to learn to fly them. Also You need a fast computor and as updated flight controls as absolutely possible. It takes a little effort to get everything meshing right...but once you do its an incredible experience!
The most forgiving aircraft in the ww11 simulator are the British huurricanes, the U.S. p 40's and the Japanese zeros, all of the other models have their advantages and quirks but it seems that these three are easier on the pilot initially.
The red baron series is a whole other ball of wax...its all about manueverabilty over airspeed and fire power,so in a way its best to learn the basics of dogfighting there and then go to the ww11 series, but either way once you master them I don't see how anybody could be as dissapointed as some of these other reviews suggest. These people just aren't good combat pilot material or have underated eguipment running the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent online experience April 21, 2010
By Michael
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've flown in Warbirds for nearly five years now and I've tried most of the other online sims. For me, Warbirds is the best combat sim out there.

The offline game is adequate, with lots of challenging missions and good diversity of missions and aircraft.

The flight model is realistic and challenging. If you try to just turn and burn you will be shot down.

The stand out characteristics of Warbirds is the online experience. Multiple arenas with various styles of settings are available and the online community of pilots are always competitive and always helpful. In addition, there is regular free training offered on various nights. If you are new to flight sims, you will need it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Painfull May 27, 2010
By Richard
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not sure if the game is just that bad or if I can't get the controls to configure properly. As another reviewer states "It's like trying to balance a BB on a marble in a moving car." I've played around with numerous other sims and will be going back to them.
