great,

This review is from: WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness: The Official Strategy Guide (Secrets of the Games Series) (Paperback)
it's written in a first-person viewpoint, and it's a bit confusing at first, but if you follow what they're doing, everything turns out fine. that, paired with the amazing price I got it for (one cent) makes it awesome

This guide blows. Those three words pretty much sum up the whole thing. Basically it shows u the maps for all the scenarios, and gives a detailed description of all the units.(fun to look at in your spare time, but not worth 20 bucks!) For the most part, the cheat codes are the only good thing. But if u need those codes to play the game, then u should take up another hobby.

The book is not helpful. It's written like you are a character in the game. The only good thing it has is the cheat codes. But you can just go to search under Warcraft Codes, and get a few puds while you're at it.

This book is simply a re written instruction manual.,

This book is satisfacory, but not that great. Most of the book is simply a reprint of the instruction manual with more statisitics- it gives very little information on how, when, or why to use the units and buildings. Also, the mission walkthroughs are written like a story, so they are difficult to use and basically just describe one successful mission attempt. It says nothing of how the enemy will probably build- it just writes as though the enemy will do the same things everys time. It includes mission maps, but these are but the default settings and the infinite variations make them worthless. It also includes the cheat codes, but these can easily be found elsewhere, including on the CD in the 'Readme' file.

Must have this book if you are stuck on any scenario.,

This review is from: WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness: The Official Strategy Guide (Secrets of the Games Series) (Paperback)
The book was very useful, especially the maps of each scenario.
Also, chapter 5 tactics, was very useful.
The book has cheat codes, but I didn't use them.
The description of units was useful because I didn't have to actually build them to find out their potential.
The multi-player strategies sound good, but I haven't tried them.
This book is a must have if you are stuck on any scenarios.

Good if you can't get anywhere, other than that, don't get,

This review is from: WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness: The Official Strategy Guide (Secrets of the Games Series) (Paperback)
If you can't beat the scenarios, this is your book. But if you've
used cheat codes to beat the game, you'll find this book full
of words, not help. The only partially-useful part is the
multiplayer strategy get. But that's about it. Just look
on the internet if you want help with your game. This has absoulutely no "Secrets to the Game", except maybe cheat codes.

Not very useful. Mostly a rehash of the game manual & junk.,

Think twice before you plop down $15-20 for this book. I
unfortunately paid $14.98 (list $19.95) too much for this
waste of time. One can find the same or even much better
information about Warcraft II on the internet or on one of
the major online services (for free or near free). This
book basically reiterates what is in the game manual that
comes with the purchase of the game itself. Chapter 4 is
ok, if you need help honestly (sans cheat codes) beating
some of the scenarios in the game. Chapter 5 is the best
chapter in the book (actual general and specific game
strategies), but it should have been GREATLY expanded. My
firm advice is to read chapter 5 in the store. If you're
semi-literate, this should take you all of 5 minutes.
Save your cash and buy some software instead. Natch.
