5.0 out of 5 stars Warcraft 3
Wow. This game...is really really good. Warcraft 3 is like the god of computer games. The Campaign is what most are judging it by, but the multiplayer on Bnet....wow. It is great. You have to work together with other teammates (3 others at max) Or playing it at a friends house on LAN ( by the way you only need one disk to do that, you stick it in, go to LAN take it...

This is not a review of Warcraft III, which I think is excellent and would consider giving 5 stars to. This is a review of this specific gift set, which I think is a waste of money.

This gift set includes only 2 things that are worth buying - the actual game, and the cinematics DVD, both of which can be found in the Collector's Edition. The collector's edition also includes the exclusive soundtrack CD (worth its weight in gold to any true Warcraft fan), an extremely high quality "Art of Warcraft" book, and a collector's edition manual signed by the development team.

The strategy guide is fairly worthless, because the game is not difficult enough to justify use of one, not to mention that there are better sources of strategy online, and Warcraft II is not recommended for anyone, especially since most people who buy Warcraft III already have Warcraft II.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get the Collecters addition instead., August 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: WarCraft III: Reign Of Chaos Exclusive Gift Set (CD-ROM)
the only thing you get in this that you dont in the collecters addition is Warcraft 2 and the strategy guide. But you get alot more in the collecters like: Art of Warcraft, Warcraft soundtrack, Warcraft DVD containing all the cinematics, a special addition Manual, and 4: 8 x 10's of the heros of Warcraft 3.

SO DONT GET THIS GET THE COLLECTERS ADDITION

Wow. This game...is really really good. Warcraft 3 is like the god of computer games. The Campaign is what most are judging it by, but the multiplayer on Bnet....wow. It is great. You have to work together with other teammates (3 others at max) Or playing it at a friends house on LAN ( by the way you only need one disk to do that, you stick it in, go to LAN take it out, put it in the other comp) (LAN=Local Area Network lol just in case)

Time ot talk of Bnet. : ) You choose your race (Orc, Human, Night Elf, or Undead) Then you choose your map ( a lot of em) and then you play it. You build buildings with workers and each building has it's own significance. Some build different kinds of troops and other are meant ot use as defense, and some meant to upgrade weapons and armory. But wait!!! there's more! You can build an altar, and make a HERO a ( Orc= Farseer, Tauren Cheiftain, Blade master Night Elf = Demon Hunter, Preistess of the moon, Keeper of the grove Human= Paladin, Archmage, mountain king Undead= Lich, Death Knight, Dreadlord) You choose out of the three heros compatible with your army and each has a total of 4 spells. (you MAY get more than one hero at a time) you choose between 3 spells until your hero reaches lvl 6 and then you may get their ultimate spell. You can get more points on the same spell to upgrade it. I am lonesome and sad these days...for my father snapped my Warcraft 3 disc because of a late project i had to turn in...which i didn't. :'( Rest in Peace my poor warcraft 3 disc. waaaaa Anyways...BUT WC3

5.0 out of 5 stars Elaborate Fantasy- best of da best!!, November 23, 2002

My friends and I have been obssesing over this game for quite a while, frankly, we love it. The idea of switching from one race to another and improving the stats of your hero is not only good in theory. The graffics r amazing and the setup was very well thought through. Also the fact that you can play multi-sessions, and build up an empire was fun as well. The game was never boring and when you finish the campaign it is always fun to play custom games. There is great variety in worlds and the game was just right in difficulty for an experienced gamer. The only thing that would be great is to have new race patches. We can only warn you about the cheats, they become adictive and the game is over to fast. Enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful strategy game to revolutionize computer gaming., June 2, 2003

This review is from: WarCraft III: Reign Of Chaos Exclusive Gift Set (CD-ROM)
I purchased this game, Warcraft III: The Reign of Chaos on July 3rd, the day it was released. I expected it to be wonderful like other Blizzard games, however I was pleasantly surprised at the attention to detail that Blizzard has put into it. If you are new to the World of Warcraft, the game is about a medieval-themed fantasy world in which several races exist battling for domination. The game-play is that of a real-time strategy game, one has to think quickly and in advance to slaughter the competition. This game appeals to a large age group, however is generally geared toward players from their teens up. (due to some animated violence and the complex thought involved in playing). Warcraft III has two main elements, a rich, bold, and exciting single player campaign filled with an intricate plot and stunning cinematics as well as a free online multi-player strategy network second to none. The highlight, in my opinion is the online aspect of Warcraft III, dubbed "Battle.net" which accurately describes the premise of the online gameplay. On Battle.net there are also several types of games to choose from, single player mêlée games (facing anonymous players world-wide), multiplayer team games (fighting exciting battles with friends) and custom games. (In the custom games the sky is the limit, there is such a plethora of diversity among custom game types that one could play forever.) Many games have exciting action and enjoyable gameplay, however Warcraft III is unique in the computer-gaming world, it has a tremendous replay value, it is hard (at least for me and all the players I know) to ever stop playing. The online element of Warcraft III is a secure, anonymous network in which the player creates a special alias to play warcraft, this protects the computer of the user as well as the user's privacy. As I mentioned earlier, there are different races involved in the wonder of Warcraft III. Four Unique Races armed with distinctive units, magical abilities, and weapons of war face each other in brutal and extremely fun combat. Each race is carefully balanced to have equal advantages and disadvantages when playing other adversaries. In addition, the 3D engine is wonderful, it shows a vivid, third-person vantage point which looks marvelous. Unlike some similar games, Warcraft III does not require a supercomputer to run, although it does look better with a good video card. The requirements are as follows:

-- 400 MHz Pentium II or equivalent
-- 128 MB of RAM
-- 8 MB 3D video card (TNT, i810, Voodoo 3, Rage 128 equivalent or better) with DirectX® 8.1 support
-- 700 MB HD space
-- 4X CD-ROM drive

Something I neglected to mention is the awesome map editor included with Warcraft III. The feature-packed editor allows the users to create their own adventures and games to play solo or online with friends. Blizzard entertainment also provides excellent customer support, should the need for it ever arise from such a well-designed game. So all-in-all, Warcraft III is a genre-defining game. With it's stunning graphics, never-ending gameplay, fast-paced strategy, and unique theme, it is a must-have for avid gamers or computer newcomers alike. Have fun! :-D

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool Game, January 7, 2003

Once you start playing, you'll realize that this game is just cool. Nothing can beat it. Nothing. Absolutely Nothing. It's fun, but not addictive. What else could you ask for a game? And for its price, you're getting a great bargain. How much more can I do to convince you to GET THIS GAME. DO YOU HEAR ME? GET THE GAME FOR PETE'S SAKE, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU GOT IT.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game, good price, May 28, 2003
This review is from: WarCraft III: Reign Of Chaos Exclusive Gift Set (CD-ROM)
Blizzard made it. That usually means quality. Warcraft III is no change from this tradition. While similar to the earlier Warcrafts and Starcraft, this game finds ways to be unique. The game uses a smaller number of units than Starcraft, so picking which units to build is more important. With upkeep and autocasting to consider, it is often better to go with smaller, stronger armies. I like the hero system, even if it is weird to use the hero units offensively without fear of losing the mission. A great game, but I'll still be playing Starcraft from time to time.

At the beginning of the game, it was hooked. I enjoy the game so much, I am going to purchase World of Warcraft because of WCIII:Reging of Chaos. If you are a big strategy game fanatic, then you would love this game. I would give this game a 5 stars for graphics and real time strategy. I would recommend this game to anyone. Keep up the good work of future war craft III.
