Hard to use, but looks nice!
on November 12, 2012
When I first got my Holland Lop, I used to use this all the time. I would carefully fill it with Timothy Hay and she would pull out all the hay and eat it. But as she has gotten larger, it has become entirely way too small to be used for her daily hay feeding container. She would eat all of it two-three times a day! And while it worked well with the Timothy Hay, as I have switched her to Alfalfa and Oat Hays, I have noticed that they often fall through the large spaces in the bars. I'm not sure if it's because I take less care to put the hay in as I used to, or if the actual hay types themselves don't suit the hay ball as well, but I feel like most of it just ends up on the floor of her cage. It is nice for veggies though, and I like to put carrots and large pieces of lettuce in here when I am going to be gone and she needs to be entertained. Overall, it is kind of a pain and a lot of the food you put in here will end up on the floor. But I do like it, and for the amount of money I spent for it, I would probably purchase again. Not the best hay container on the market, but it definitely has a use.
