The author is a software professional and a researcher. He has thoroughly searched over the past eight years and now lists software solutions that are available for the warehouse. This is not an easy job, as many of the companies and solutions are better at technology than marketing themselves.

The Warehouse & Logistics Software Directory provides an exhaustive listing of logistical software systems such as WMS, TMS, vehicle routing, yard management, etc. The information is up to date, accurate, useful and well organised to allow a quick selection of a longlist of potential vendors to start off a software tender.

The information from the vendors is supplemented with brief remarks from the author. I would suggest to the author to add some more of these remarks in a next edition. They are very helpful and clearly add value. I found the author's remark on SAP on page 115 right to the point: Well known, but watch the costs for 'professional services'.

The directory primarily focuses on the North American market. I've reviewed edition 6 of April 2002 and I found that several regional vendors from Europe are still missing. I've understood that these vendors will be added in the next edition.

I can certainly recommend the directory to North Americans. Europeans should perhaps await the next edition.

We have found that the Warehouse & Logistics Software Directory to be extremely helpful. It is a thorough list of what WMS solutions are out there making it unique from the small lists of WMS software that one can ind here or there. Since the directory has WMS listings by operating system, it was easy for us to focus on both Unix & NT solutions. A big time saver!

While there has been a consolidation of WMS, TMS and related logistics software applications in the industry, it is still a maze. This is a great reference which makes the job easier.
