4.0 out of 5 stars Fix for Defective game being shipped by Amazon
Amazon is *still* shipping defective copies of this game (I got it for Xmas and was attempting to install it today).

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing Key!
I ordered this game even after having read the previous reviews stating that there were missing keys. I hoped that maybe they had the issue fixed. I was wrong. They key for The Dark Crusade was fine, but the key for Winter Assault was missing the end set of characters. I attempted to contact THQ via e-mail and was unable to get an email through to support. I am not too...

Amazon is *still* shipping defective copies of this game (I got it for Xmas and was attempting to install it today).

However, a quick google found a solution to the problem if you buy this game from Amazon and receive the misprinted installation key which will prevent you from even installing it:

Enter the first two sets of numbers from the key on the manual, then '0000' in the third input field, then the next two sets of numbers from your key.

Worked like a charm.

Great game and a tremendous value too. Definite 5 stars.

All the people who are rating this game poorly due to the key issue need to read this:

Enter the first two sets of numbers from the key on the manual, then '0000' in the third input field, then the next two sets of numbers from your key.

I found this in under 5 minutes using a tool called "Google" and it has been posted in other reviews here. It is absolutely poor style to assign the game a bad rating because of an issue that can easily be rectified with a simple search. Is it a stupid mistake on the part of THQ? Absolutely. But it doesn't make it a suck game.

One of the best RTS' I've played in years, a great game for any Warhammer 40K fans, and if you aren't, this game will make you into one.
Dawn of War and Winter Assault have very nice story line and game play aspects, while Dark Crusade brings about some very nice overhauls to the tech trees to bring the game's whooping 7 races into multiplayer balance.
Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game for fans of Warhammer 40K, August 1, 2008

First, I have to say that I am a long time Warhammer 40K fan. I have played the table top game and collect the army pieces. So, when I found out this was coming out I got excited.

I was not disappointed. The missions are fun and can be challenging. Sometimes I would fly through a mission, other times I would have to play over an hour to finish one. Several times I lost a mission and had to start over. I have not tried the online multiplayer yet.

My only complaint is the maps are not interactive. Meaning you can't blow up buildings, bridges, or anything else that has not been built by your opponent.

Besides that, it's a great game to play. To top it off, it's not expensive at $30. Really worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unsure, July 9, 2007

I was very hesitant before buying this game, I am not usually a fan of RTS, but three of my friends recommended it to me so I finally broke down and bought it. I am so glad I waited for the platinum edition. Dark Crusade is by far the best campaign, though the others seem okay as well, but you need all three games to play all the races. I am sure to get a ton of play time out of this multi-title pack.

4.0 out of 5 stars WA Incorrect Key Codes, December 21, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Warhammer Dawn Of War Platinum (Video Game)
The game is nice.

I also got a 16 digit key code for Winter Assault (and it is asking for a 20 digit key code). I saw on a forum that it works if you insert 0000 in the first box. It didn't work for me but when I inserted 0000 in the middle box it worked. Play around with the 0000 before you return the game. It might work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best RTS to date, September 27, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Warhammer Dawn Of War Platinum (Video Game)
This is likely the best RTS game to date. It does away with a traditional resource gathering theme and instead forces you to take and hold territory to be successful. It has 7 armies to play and every one of them is completely unique. On-the-fly upgrades and reinforcements as well as squad based combat give you amazing flexibility regardless of which army you play. You can even customize the colors of the forces you use.
Over all, one of the best and most under rated RTS games of all time.

I just received mine (ordered on Amazon via J&R Computers) and the serial included for Winter Assault is complete and works fine so apparently THQ have finally gotten their act together. It also has 3 demos not listed on the packaging or the front of the demo disc itself (Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, Frontlines: Fuel of War, and Titan Quest: Immortal Throne). The games themselves are fantastic, but of course I already knew that ;) Overall a very good purchase and certainly worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, June 22, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Warhammer Dawn Of War Platinum (Video Game)
I had read mixed reviews about this game. I've been playing for a few weeks now and it is well worth the money. The gameplay is great, excellent storylines. On lower difficulty the game is really easy. I suggest starting on the hardest setting if you are an avid rts gamer like I am.

Convenient package. Should have been cheaper. Still loads of fun, especially dark crusade.

on a completely different note: to all game makers:
When I buy a game, it's fine. I should not have to scramble for disks. I inherently dislike, nay, loathe any business modal that assumes it's customers are crooks and need to be treated as such. I should not have to jump through any hoops to enjoy my product--god forbid someone should lose the disk or it should be scratched somehow.
