4.0 out of 5 stars Very Well Done
The Career Compendium is an excellent resource guide to all of the careers in WFRP, especially if you don't have many other source books. All of the pages are wonderfully detailed with those awesome illustrations that are all over the WFRP books. 2.0 out of 5 stars Take care before purchasing...
As Sidd Kingsley said in an earlier review, this book is nice to have if you do not have all the other books. Even if you do have the other books, it's nice to have them in one spot. There are problems with this book though. Hopefully one of the problems is limited to just the book I purchased and that is the binding isn't very well done. The second day of reading through...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Well Done, April 14, 2009

This review is from: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay: Career Compendium (Paperback)
The Career Compendium is an excellent resource guide to all of the careers in WFRP, especially if you don't have many other source books. All of the pages are wonderfully detailed with those awesome illustrations that are all over the WFRP books. If you have a lot of the other source books, then this one isn't really necessary, though it IS helpful having all of the careers compiled in alphabetical order. The new careers are pretty cool, some of which are easy favorites in my opinion. It's also nice to have full descriptions of the careers, along with some extra tidbits inluding famous (enter career here)s and "a day in the life" sections. All in all, it's a very well done source book, but not necessary for the deep-pocketed RPer that already has all the other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book for WFRP players., June 21, 2009

This review is from: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay: Career Compendium (Paperback)
All the careers published in the previous WFRP books regrouped into one volume. It give more information about each of them. The book included, also, some new careers. It doesn't included non-human career such as the Skaven and vampire. The book is very useful if you don't have or plan to have ALL the previous books. If the players, excluding the GM, have to get only one book, this is the one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy for people getting into WFRP, June 12, 2009
This review is from: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay: Career Compendium (Paperback)
This book is one of those that are great for people just getting into the system but not necessary for anyone who owns all the books. Essentially FFG went through all the warhammer material and copy/pasted the careers into one book. I do mean copy/paste because several error in the previous books (improper links for entrance/exit, typos) still exist. Here is what I like about the book even though I own all the WFRP books.

1)Easy to use reference with all the possible careers listed alphabetically

2)Decent charts in the appendix to chose careers by category (like WFRP v1, Ranger, Academic etc..), Province, etc. Also include is a huge D1000 chart to cover all the beginning careers

3)Little information tidbits on the career. This can be a simple paragraph of "day in the life" to possible adventure hooks for the careers.

In conclusion, if you own the majority of WFRP sourcematerial, you can pass on this book. If you don't or want easy reference to all the careers, look into picking up this book.

The second day of reading through the book and a page slipped out of the book. It did not rip, it just wasn't bound well. Then there is the typos, of which there are a lot. The 5th page has a source book reference to let you know where they got the career from. Unfortunately there are some source books missing from the list while they are abbreviated on the career. As long as you have the other books and can guess which one they are referring to, it's not too much of a problem. Some careers do not have the source book reference though which is frustrating. There are a lot of typos throughout the book and added words that should not be there. I haven't gone through and double checked that all the skills, talents and trappings are correct yet. That is something you may want to do if you have the source book. This book I found to be poorly done by the publisher and the printer. It shouldn't be too difficult to hire a proof reader before you send something to the printers. People really should take more pride in their work. I suggest finding the book at a store and looking through it before purchasing it since $30 to $80 is a lot to spend on something filled with errors and pages falling out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Sidekick for Players, June 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay: Career Compendium (Paperback)
Having all of the careers from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay in one book is excellent. I enjoy some of the more in depth descriptions, and the plot hooks that are supplied have given me some good ideas for campaigns. Since I actually have all of the other source books, this was an excellent buy for me, so when it takes a trip around the table to the players, I can still have my stash of books next to me. The only downside is that if you don't have the particular source book for the career there isn't enough information in the Career Compendium to allow you to play it.
In short, a great complement to a collection, but not really a stand alone book.
