5.0 out of 5 stars Warhammer
This is very fun game. I liked it alot. You get to control an whole army with individual regiments. If you are into strategic play this is it. I wish they make more games like this. The story line is interesting, and cinamic plot is real cool.

This game is not for the faint of heart. Its an older game so dont expect superb graphics.. but then again graphics don't make every game.

This game is a great 'commander' game, ONCE you learn how to handle the interface efficiently. Very challenging to complete all the missions (and thus the game). graphics are not great, but this is about pitting the right units against the enemy at the correct time. each different unit has different strengths and weaknesses. Almost 50% is decided before the sides ever clash...knowing when to attack and when to play defensively is critical.

This game is not for the faint of heart. Its an older game so dont expect superb graphics.. but then again graphics don't make every game.

The concept of this game is great and was done much better in the 'sequel' Warhammer : Dark Omen. In this game you command a mercenary army and control it during battles. Over time more and more 'units' join your army. The problem is affording the upkeep for the army... and you are not supplied sufficient reinforcements for the massive number of casualties you will incur. At first it is of reasonable difficulty but within a dozen battles you are almost at impossible odds.

If you are a hardcore fan of strategy games, try it out, but I highly suggest Dark Omen over this as it maintains a challenge, but not impossibility.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little off the beaten path, February 10, 2004

First, let's get something straight. This game is ALL about strategy, NOT graphics, not shoot'm up, not AD&D. It is about commanding an army of increasing size on the field of battle, of knowing which units to pit against which types of enemy troops, of taking advantage of the terrain and using surprise. To that end, it is a fantastic game, IMO. You will not finish this game in one night, probably not in one month. The scenarios get increasingly difficult. The biggest thing you need to realize about this game is that it is much, MUCH wiser to play defensively and let the enemy come to you.

One major caveat is the complexity of the user interface. It will take quite a while to get used to, and even then it isn't ideal. You cannot micromanage the entire battlefield, you need to trust that some of the units can do their job, trust in the battle plan you drew up, and support the other units with a few easy to manage but powerful units.

Overall, a fantastic strategy game, only the awkward and complex interface keep it from scoring 5 stars.

I DIN'T KNOW WHERE TO START! THIS IS IS LIKE A COMBINATION OF RPG/STRATEGY GAME!! THE SETTINGS/TIMEFRAME & THE CHARACHTER'S CLOTHING/ARMOR REMIND ME OF THE MIDDLE & DARK AGES, WHEN THERE WAS UPHEAVAL & POLITICAL TURMOIL ALL OVER EUROPE! I AM A DIE-HISTORY BUFF, BOTHE ANCIENT, MODERN & MODERN HISTORY. BUT PRIMARILY INTERESTED IN AVIATION HISTORY. THAT OF WWI&WWII. THE STUFF THEY CALL "AIRPLANES" THESE DAYS ARE FLYING COMPUTERS, AND COMPICATE THE PILOTS JOB. PILOTS OF TODAY NEED TO HAVE TECHNOLOGY SKILLS, AND RELY LESS OF PILOTING SKILLS.

I have played through this game more than any other. Only hardcore warhammer/RTSG fans need apply. Hehe the graphics are blurred pixel mash at its best.

The key, as others have said, is to master the wacky interface system (remember you can select units on the pause screen).
Also remember, tern off the AI on your archer/crossbow units!

This game has NO MERCY. You want to survive? you better play dirty:
Only fight in close combat if you absolutely have to.
Set up gunlines, create kill zones and bait a few enemy units in at a time, lock units down will spells, and level up that amber wizard as FAST as you can so you can use that bird attack spell.
Best thing is that there is a "Restart" option located in the pause menu. Trust me, you will be using that allot because if you lose a unit in battle then its gone for good.

What keeps bring me back is the branching story choices and experience point system, you never know how your units will fare so they may be tough or wimps by the end of the game. Also there are several different paths through the game, some of witch are even tougher, and one is the actual No Win Scenario (the three shortcuts to Loren forest).

1.0 out of 5 stars THE WORST PLAYSTATION GAME I EVER PLAYED, March 14, 2001

Don't waste your time renting or buying this game, It is truly terrible. The characters are impossible to control and the battles scences are beyond your control. This game has a neat theme, and could have be worth playing, but whoever made this game needs to go back to the designing board. It seems like this game was never test marketed, because if it had, then the programmers would have made major changes. It is the worst game I have ever played.

Its been nearly 10 years now, since i got this game. And to the date this is one of the best RTS games i played on computer. Yeah, by now it wont work with Win2000 or WinXP (well it was released back in days of Win 3.11 - what you expected?), and graphics is not as cool right now. But its still fun to play, its still challenging one's mind.

This is a pretty fun game overall, but the grafixs could use some major improvement. The sound and music of this game are OK,
but i have definately seen better. But if u like games like this i would also recommend C&C Generals or any of the other games in that series.
