Review for an obsolete game,

This review is from: Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat (CD-ROM)
I bought this years ago. Having played the table top versions of Warhammer and Warhammer 40000, I do know a fair bit about the background of the game and how it should play out.
Basically, you lead a human mercenary army against Orks who are being manipulated by the rat-men known as the Skaven. There is also a side campaign against the Undead. You will have help from elf and dwarf units. I found the story line above average, and the combat fairly good. The animation for the time was very good. I'd recommend it more than its sequel, Dark Omen (which had better combat, but I found lacking as a whole). Bottom line: if you like to play vintage games on old systems, I think this is worth $10. |
