Super powerful, fast.

So although I have been, to this point, mostly satisfied with the overall unit, I would not recommend it to others that really depend on the blender.

It sounds like a jet engine spooling up and blends anything you throw at it.

I purchased this in March 2011. The bottom bushing literally crumbled on me, not stripped but broke into three pieces, an obvious manufacturer's defect, which is warranted. However they would not be satisfied with a few pictures and proof of purchase, like so many manufacturers are going to. No, I am going to have to ship them at my expense to Connecticut because they don't have a warranty center within 150 miles. Then wait the week for it to get there then however long they decide to take before replacing it and then a week back. This means I am looking at, most likely at least three weeks without a blender.

So although I have been, to this point, mostly satisfied with the overall unit, I would not recommend it to others that really depend on the blender. Like me I am not able to be without one in the heat and summer for three weeks I am going to have to go purchase another blender or carafe so I can have a spare. That is not good customer service. When this carafe is $100. I am better off going and purchasing a new Ninja blender as a side unit.

I have this blender (MX 1050) with the noise-dampering cover for almost 2 years so far and I can't say anything negative about it. I use it to make all kinds of fruit smoothies. Before this blender, I had a cheap Sunbeam blender from K-Mart that did not blended ice cubes. This Waring MX blender takes seconds to process almost full pitcher filled with fruits, juice and ice cubes. You can see it in the video that it took about 13 seconds to make over 46-ounces of smoothie (pineapple rings with heavy syrup, mango and ice cubes). The blender also looks very stylish and controls are straight forward. To clean the pitcher and the lid, you just rinse it with water, fill-in a splash of dish washing liquid into the pitcher, fill-in 20 or so ounces of water, put back the lid and blend it for 4 seconds. Rinse out the blended dish liquid, rinse the pitcher and fill it back with 20 ounces of water and blend it for 4 more seconds and its done. May sound complicated but it is very quickly and easy. The optional noise-dampering cover dose not cancel out the noise but it dose make less noise than the blender without it. I make smoothies at 3AM sometimes so I like it.

This blender is strong, powerful and FAST. The motor spins at 45,000 RPM and makes fast work of any blending job. The connection between the motor and blending jar is metal to metal (NO PLASTIC drive parts). The price is right, check out the warranty 3 years on motor and 2 years parts and labor, but it's built for commercial use and the way I use it - I expect it to last a long long time.

A huge advantage to me was the fact that it is only 18.5 inches tall (with the lid on, the 18" measurement is without the lid). This allows it to sit under my upper cupboards, neither the VitaMix or Blendtec would fit when assembled.

The motor has all the power you need, but is a bit noisy - I have to wait for a TV commercial or get dirty looks from my wife. Yet it is quieter than some other blenders because of the rubber cushion between the motor base and where the blending jar sits (which is removable and easy to clean).

The blending jar is big enough to really be useful. I like to make blender - ice cream - and can store a 7 days worth in the freezer from a single batch. While there is a hole in the top of the lid, I no longer use it as there is a certain splatter factor that comes with a blender that runs this strong and fast ;->

My blender ice cream, ½ cup of sugar free French vanilla coffee creamer, 1.5 cups of milk, ¼ cup Amaretto, frozen strawberries. I take out around 15 or 20 strawberries (depending on size) and allow them to partially defrost (still frozen in the center) this is necessary so it does not freeze up and not blend correctly with just a few berries. Put the milk, creamer and amaretto in the blending jar, add the partially defrosted berries, cover and blend, add milk if too thick to blend correctly.

I saw a demo for Vitamix and was sold on the idea of getting the whole family to eat more veggies by sneaking them into fruit smoothies, but $450 was just too expensive for a blender. I did some research and came across this souped up Waring Blender. At 45,000 rpm, it is actually MORE powerful than the Vitamix at 38,000 rpm, and while $300 is still pretty pricey, it is a lot cheaper!

Now cheaper does not mean cheap. This blender is really heavy duty and quickly pulverizes anything I have put into it such as carrots, frozen fruit and collard greens. Now by pulverize, I mean PULVERIZE! Collard greens are really tough, leathery things, and in less than a minute they were liquified, not even a speck of leaf remained! The same is true for apple peels and the stringy stuff from celery.

This blender is loud, but amazingly, not quite as loud as my old cheapie blender. Another plus is that unlike the Vitamix Blender, this one will actually fit, barely, on the counter under a standard kitchen cupboard. Another plus is easy cleaning. After using (don't allow food to dry on) just fill the container half full of hot soapy water and turn the blender on. Works great!

On the down side, the reason I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 stars, is that the container is plastic instead of glass. The Vitamix and Blendtec blenders also use "Polycarbonite" containers (sorry guys, but polycarbonite is just a fancy word for plastic). The containers are advertised as BPA-free, but I would rather stick to good old non-reactive, non-leaching, glass. Also keep in mind that this is a commercial blender and it does not come with a recipe book like the Vitamix does.

I have only had this blender for a few days, so can't really vouch for it's durability.
