5.0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS-TRULY COMMERCIAL,TOP PROFESSIONAL-DON'T BUY ANY OTHER
I can't begin to say how THRILLED I am with this unit.It is, simply, the BEST, PROFESSIONAL, COMMERCIAL QUALITY unit you can find. I've had other, non-professional units--which never heat hot enough--which causes sticking-- and soon stop working. 1.0 out of 5 stars Lasted only 3 months
I brought this burner about 3 months ago. I was disappointed from the start when I noticed that its really only one burner that gets hot, the other just gets warm.

I went to go turn it on yesterday and its not turning on.
I paid all this money for a "commercial grade" product and it didnt even last me three months.

I can't begin to say how THRILLED I am with this unit.It is, simply, the BEST, PROFESSIONAL, COMMERCIAL QUALITY unit you can find. I've had other, non-professional units--which never heat hot enough--which causes sticking-- and soon stop working. The extra $$ for this unit are worth every penny.I had given up on others-- and this was my last resort. These burners heat and stay HOT for even cooking and frying. I use this double burner ALL THE TIME for all types of stove cooking-- in place of of my regular stove-- which had died. I didn't want to purchase another stove now because we'll soon be moving. ( It does take a minute or so to heat up--not a fault--it's in the construction--because once it does reach
the temperature level you want--IT STAYS hot at that temperature.)This is the ONLY unit which gets hot enough to BOIL WATER and COOK PASTA --in a BIG POT, too--because large burner IS large....and QUICKLY.All the other units NEVER reach boiling temperature. This is because it's 1500. I, also, recommend this flat surface over the raised burner grids--which are hard to clean. These flat surfaces clean instantly. REAL metal-- not plastic and substitute stuff--for easy cleaning and quality appearance. When we move and have a stove, again, I know we'll continue to use this
as an extra burner . This is the ONLY unit I would recommend over all those cheapie ones--whether they cost little or a lot.I don't write reviews very often-- but just had to share and praise this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Double Burner, October 21, 2007

I've found the Waring Pro DB60 to be a solid double burner. I like the simple design with cast iron plates makes for easy clean up. The temperature control seems faster than other burners i've used- when turning down from 5 to 2 (high to simmer) The Waring cost more than other double electric burners on the market, but from the not convincing reviews of the others, and from using the Waring every day for several weeks i think it is definitely worth it.

This portable burner is very well made. Unlike my previous portable burner, this one is easy to keep clean. The temperature controls also work much better than the first one I tried. I have been using it on a regular basis for about 3 months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waring Double burner, November 4, 2007

I purchased the burner for my 93 year old father, who moved into our remodeled lower level. He's a tough customer, but loves the burner - says it is very accurate and easy to use. Easy cleanup too.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Waring DB60 Portable Double Burner (Kitchen)
I have used this stove top daily for the last few weeks. It has worked consistantly. I previously cooked on a gas stove, so the pots and pans heat up a bit slower then I'm used to but not so much that it has caused a problem. I cook with cast iron and stainless steel, and the cast iron heating surfacse of the burner works well with the those types of pots. If I time things right I am able to shut the burner off well in advance and let the residual heat finish cooking my dish.

The large burner will bring to a boil anything in a cast iron dutch oven, 8-inch cast iron skillet, 6qt stainless steel Fagor Pressure Cooker, and 4 cup stainless steel pot. The small burner (recommended in the manual for simmering) will eventually bring the 4 cup stainless steel pot to a boil. The large burner does an excellent job with the pressure cooker.

The surfaces do not change from one temperature to the next like my gas stove so that is mainly the changes needed in my cooking. I think ahead and when necessary I turn the heat down sooner because the residual warmth takes time to dissapate.

It took over an hour for the large burner to cool to the touch after bringing the 4 cup pot to a boil, turning off the heat then removing the pot. So be mindful! Also the silver surrounding surface gets very hot too.

I wanted a higher quality burner setup then what was available in any local store. Most only carried the simple coil type for 10-20 dollars depending on the number of burners. This has been a wonderful step up (or few steps up) and I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gift a winner, August 5, 2008

I gave this as a Christmas gift in 2007 to a woman who is on oxygen and had moved into a trailer that has a gas stove. She was afraid to use the stove because of the fire risk when extra oxygen is present. I had not intended to spend this much but after reading the reviews of the less expensive hot plates I decided I would rather give her something that works than spend less and leave her in danger with a less than reliable product. The Waring arrived at her place within a couple of days of my ordering it. It was packed well. She has used it at least twice a day since she got it and has had no trouble. It is easy to use. She said that it is bigger than the ones she knew about but I don't think that is really a complaint. She thanks me regularly and has never said anything negative about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great !!, October 5, 2008
This review is from: Waring DB60 Portable Double Burner (Kitchen)
I bought this 4 months ago.Was a little worried about the heat after reading some reviews, but decided to try it anyway. It works great. First time you have to heat it slowly(according to instructions) but after that it heats up like a reg burner on a stove. In fact its so hot that I turn burner off 5 mins before food is done and it keeps cooking very well. Only one setback, ...burners are hard to clean if you spill liquids so watch pot carefully and dont let it boil over. I find that when cooking stews...etc # 2 heat setting is just right . Anything higher and food will boil too high, thats how great these burners are!!!And using good quality pots and pans also helps, a heavy set is the best for even cooking. I am glad I decided to try it , no regrets ,well worth the price. Its made of great quality!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A hot deal on a hot plate, January 1, 2008

I've been looking for something like the DB60 for some time now. What a nice find. It is very well built and functions perfectly. The only criticism that I have is that the numbers on the knobs are poorly printed and are wearing off very quickly. It would be nice to have the numbers etched in and painted with a better quality paint. Other than that I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lifesaver, January 24, 2008
This review is from: Waring DB60 Portable Double Burner (Kitchen)
I had a function at my church in which I had to warm a large pot of Gumbo which had been refrigerated the night before so I didn't know how long it would take to warm the pot up. Well it didn't take long at all and a lot of people were impressed with the Warning Pro DB60. Even the younger people had never heard of a hot plate in which the older folks use to call it, but overall it did the job and I was concerned it would not make it to my house in time because I didn't do the next day delivery but it arrived on time and I was very happy with that and the product.

Thanks, Amazon
Sincerly, J. Joseph

Recently moved into an apartment with no stove, which was nearly a deal-breaker because I love to cook. I grudgingly agreed to take the place if the rental company agreed to provide a hot-plate of my choosing. And what a GREAT choice I made in the Waring Pro Portable Burner!

It's compact, well-designed, and cranks out plenty of heat. I first tested it by cranking the large burner all the way to 5 (its top setting) to see how quickly it would heat up. I was frustrated at first that it was taking so long to get a green "ready" light, so I decided to see at what point it would fry an egg. The butter melted instantly as it hit the pan, started sizzling, and I fried that egg when the Burner had only reached 2!

The solid burners crank out steady, even heat, and make cleanup a breeze, as does the stainless steel body.

Hey, it's not a gas range. It takes a bit longer to heat up and cool down. But for the money and convenience, this humble burner is HOT! I highly recommend this product.
