4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and cost effective
This was a Christmas present for my husband that I bought for chilling wine on the spur of the moment. It worked well for the first time out. It is a glorified ice bucket - but it works and chills the wine somewhat accurately for the time allowed. It is not as fancy as some of the other designs on the market - but sometimes simple is best.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing.
I just received this as a gift a few days ago as a Christmas gift from my brother. I'm left wanting...I don't believe this product is worth it's price. The idea is great but, the basket insert sizes are not accurate. The large basket didn't fit my bottle of wine, so it seems even though you are given a small and large basket- you should only use a small bottle of wine...

I just received this as a gift a few days ago as a Christmas gift from my brother. I'm left wanting...I don't believe this product is worth it's price. The idea is great but, the basket insert sizes are not accurate. The large basket didn't fit my bottle of wine, so it seems even though you are given a small and large basket- you should only use a small bottle of wine. Standard ice from my freezer didn't fit into the chiller once I put the wine bottle in- you have to use small store bought ice or chipped broken pieces of ice, the sound/craftsmanship/overall quality of the product doesn't seem worth $50. Once the timer was done (and I doubled the suggested time) the wine I poured into my glass was only slightly above room temperature- even though the bottle felt pretty darn cold once I pulled it from the chiller. Save your money. Either spend more for a better wine chiller, or get something else altogether.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a wine chiller, January 4, 2010
This review is from: Waring Pro PC50 Cordless Wine Chiller, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
This product is terrible. I purchased it for my husband for Christmas because I was intrigued by the cordless option. "Great for picnics," I thought. Once it arrived I realized I had made a huge mistake. It requires you to use 6 cups of ice and cold water to chill the wine! This doesn't chill wine: it only spins the bottle in an ice water bath. There goes the picnic and any other convenient, no mess, wine chilling ideas. Unless you like messy, wet, dripping bottles of wine get another brand of wine chiller.

You'd think upon reading the description that the chiller chills the wine itself without anything more. Wrong! Ice and water is required to be placed in the basket for the wine to be cooled while rotating. This is nothing more than a cool table-top wine turn-table. I had no issues with the baskets fitting my standard sized wine bottles.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rotating ice bucket, if that is a wine chiller., October 2, 2010

Did not read the description of this item good enough. It doesn't really chill wine. You fill the bucket with ice and the bottom plate just rotates it. That LED display is the number of minutes to rotate not the wine temperature.

I just purchased this item and I am very disappointed with it. I agree with one of the other reviews. The bottle was cold but the wine wasn't even after 30 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gift for the connoisseur!, May 12, 2009

Gave this as a gift for mother's day last year and mom loves it! Never had a problem fitting any type of bottle in it, and it truly does only take 15-20 minutes for most bottles to chill to the right temperature (and then they stay that way). Very easy to use...anyone who's a regular wine drinker should have one...there's no need to buy any more expensive of a wine chiller when this one works as needed.

We either have our white wines in a rack at room temperature or in a wine refrigerator that keeps them cool but not as cold as we like. We purchased this product refurbished---it looks brand new. Gave the batteries a short charge, placed a chardonay in the "holder", added a few ice cubes (crushed is best!) some water and in less than 15 minutes cold wine from room temperature. Pour and return the bottle to the chiller and it will stay cold. We are very pleased. Not to mention the bargain we always get with Amazon!
