You get a few small chunks of ice in the drink.I had to buy a manual ice crusher to crush the ice first then you get the consistency most people like .This is as good as it gets for outdoor drink making unlees you go to the gas powered blenders.(That's next )
Two things to note about this bad boy, the lid fits REALLY tight and has no knob on top to help you pull it off. I had to pry it up though the spout hole with the back of a spoon when I first opened it. Not a problem as long as you don't actually put it down into the pitcher all the way. I found it fit firmly enough to keep liquid from splashing by placing it lightly on top, which allowed me to get it off easily. They really should provide a knob for the lid.
The second thing is that the base of the pitcher screws on in reverse (NOT "Righty-Tighty"). I am sure there is a good reason for this that relates to the motor, etc, but it does require you to remember not to turn it counter-clockwise when you want to take it apart to clean it as you will be tightening the base, rather than loosening it. Arrows are molded into the bottom of the base to remind you, but they are the same color as the base so you may overlook them.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I would highly recommend this blender. If my opinion changes over time, I will revise my post.
The round plastic pitcher is also poorly conceived. The best blenders have squared off pitchers, so that the ice slams against the side over and over and is pulverized. There are lots of pretty blenders out there with round pitchers, and they are all not as good as even a cheap square pitcher model you can buy for $25 at any department store.
Overall the quality is poor - not at all what you would think a company with such a history of blenders would produce. Like many companies today, they are riding their brand name.
Just to qualify myself : I have used most blenders commercially available today, and own 4 blenders. I make smoothies every day, as well as milkshakes, margaritas, frappes etc. from time to time. I own the Waring Tailgater TG15 and will be throwing it in the marina's garbage can as soon as I finish typing.

Works great. Only concern is all the literature claims it is 2 speed. There is only one. However , if "off" is a speed, I guess the claims are accurate.Published 5 months ago by Lori Meischke

NOT BAD AS 12 volt blenders go, long cord good, reaches anywhere, ice cubes will often either stop it or prevent it starting. Read morePublished 6 months ago by 50somethingMGR
