Product Description

The Waring Pro® Professional Wine Center comes elegantly packaged in its own gift box, but you might not want to give it away! This is a beautiful and convenient way to open and preserve wine. A matched pair, the wine opener and electric wine preserver sit on an elegant base that doubles as a charging unit and storage center. The opener removes up to 50 natural or synthetic corks on a full charge, and the preserver removes air from opened bottles with the push of a button to keep wine fresh. Both handsets are rubberized for easy grip and feature brushed stainless accents, including the embossed Waring logo. Comes with two wine stoppers and a foil cutter. Cheers!

Nov 2014 Update: the opener has stopped working. So this one lasted 2 years It was great while it lasted but probably switching back to the rabbit.

This is a very nice looking product and seems well made. It comes with an opener (5 stars by itself), a pumper, 2 vaccum corks (for the pumper) and a foil cutter. The opener is fantastic. Just set it on the cork, hold the bottle and push the button. The electric opener does the rest. When the cork is out simply use the reverse button and out comes the cork. Set it back in the charging station and it will be ready to go again whenever needed. The other part of this set is a pumper. It seems to make a vaccum but nothing like we get with the hand pumper we have had for years. My pumper may be defective but I would suggest getting just the opener if it is available that way.

I bought a Rabbit electric wine opener and it was a dud, stopped working after a few pulls. Exchanged it for a second one and same thing happened again....urgh. Did some research and found this one--full of bells of whistles. Works great. No problems yet. Also, what is nice about it is that once the individual units are charged, it stops charging thus preserving the battery. The wine preserver is a nice touch and it stops me from drinking more often. :)

Bought this as a gift for my husband's birthday. He LOVES the way the cork just slips effortless out and is easy to remove from the device. The vacuum doesn't do quite as good a job as the manually operated ones, but sure beats cranking away at them, especially when just one glass worth is left at the bottom. We never had a foil cutter, and now appreciate the good job it does with so little effort.

The box it comes in makes it seem really expensive! I felt like a professional holding it... And they both are pretty heavy. They both also came a little charged so I could use them right out of the box!

I know that this is probably not an issue for everyone, but we love this Wine Center, with one exception. The two completely different units in this system look too much alike.

HOW THIS WORKS
You have a stand which plugs in. In the center is a place to put the foil cutter which is excellent, by the way. Then you have a spot for the corkscrew and another for the vacuum sealer. Those two spots allow these to recharge. There is also a spot for two re-useable rubber corks that will allow the vacuum sealer to withdraw air and keep the partial bottle of wine fresh for another day or two.

We don't leave the wine center up all of the time due to counter space issues. We charge the units and then put the whole thing in a drawer, grabbing what we need when we do. When it is time to recharge, we bring it out again.

PERFORMANCE
The corkscrew works great. The first time we used it, it seemed like it was struggling. But if you hold the bottle with one hand and keep the corkscrew going, you can tell when it is done. It slows way down and you stop. Then you press the opposite direction button and it withdraws the cork.

The vacuum sealer works well but is a bit on the weak side. You have to make sure it adequately removes the air from the bottle before you put it away. It is doable, just take an extra moment to be sure it worked well enough.

The first time you charge them, leave them in overnight. I was told that the lights go off when they are charged fully but we have yet to see that happen.

RATINGS
So far we really love the wine center. It is handy to have, with no problems so far (after a few months) and convenient to use too. At this point in time, I think it is worth five stars for us.

I already loved the wine preserver, so when I found a rechargeable bottle opener as a set I knew this was perfect for my husband! Great product, everything I could hope for.

Waring has almost a dozen models of this piece of junk and for that reason I am posting a review on each model listed for sale here -- otherwise, anyone looking at another model would not see it.. My particular model is WW 0100PC, labeled as the "Professional" model. No professional would use this since the non-replaceable batteries die with only moderate use. Additionally the foil cutter lost one of its cutting wheels within a couple of months.

All the foil cutters are the same generic piece of junk. Waring only added more junk with a mediocre wine opener with batteries that are not replaceable and failed within a short period of time. You could probably find something of equal quality for half the price. Just consider it a novelty item if you're giving it as a gift since chances are it will fail within a very short period of use. I did take the unit apart after it was failing. It has two non-replaceable NiMH batteries, totaling 4V soldered into a 6V motor, which probably explains the weak initial pull strength and the subsequent rapid fail rate.

In short, feel free to buy this or one of the other dozen or so models as a gift to friends who will be polite enough not to tell you what a piece of junk it it is.

A year later and still works. It has opened more bottles than it probably should of. Very easy to use. I would recommend this even if you are technologically inept. It is super easy to use and you just have to hit reverse to eject the cork. No energy at all. Infact I had seen this in use at a large winery before I got it they were telling me how nice it was when you have to open over a hundred bottles in a weekend
