4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, so far. . .
I've done a ridiculous amount of research on toaster ovens, trying to find a better quality one that does not have a nonstick coating (which releases poisonous gas when heated) on the interior of the oven or on the bake pans. I was very happy to find that the Waring model is nonstick-free. (For those who care, the interior is aluminized steel.) I've had the toaster oven...

3.0 out of 5 stars Waring Pro Toaster Oven
The oven works well and looks good. I like that it has a regular toaster built in. I wish that the sound of the bell was different, it sounds a little cheesy, like something from the 50's. The bread toaster works well, but is smaller then I thought it was, only two pieces of bread will fit, there isn't a separate cancel button either.

I've done a ridiculous amount of research on toaster ovens, trying to find a better quality one that does not have a nonstick coating (which releases poisonous gas when heated) on the interior of the oven or on the bake pans. I was very happy to find that the Waring model is nonstick-free. (For those who care, the interior is aluminized steel.) I've had the toaster oven for only a week, but so far it works very well. It has a nice solid, industrial feel to it - nothing feels cheap. The dimensions are actually 19" wide,11" deep, 9" tall - the measurements given in the description are way wrong. My husband and I really like the separate toaster slots on top and use them all the time. The interior of the oven is roomy - enough to fit 4 or 5 baked potatoes or 4 slices of traditional-size bread or 2 slices of oversize sandwich bread. I've used it to bake potatoes, broil bacon, brown a chicken and make toast - everything came out fine. The only complaints I have are really just annoyances. First, you can't use the oven without setting the timer, which I guess is a safety feature, because when the timer goes off the power shuts off. But this means if you want to cook something for a couple hours you need to be on the ball and reset the timer to continue baking. I rarely use it for more than 30 minutes so this is not a real problem for me. Second, the rack and bake pans are a pretty tight fit and when I need to change their position it takes a few seconds to line them up right - once I do they go in smoothly. But I wonder if this will be more of a problem in the future when everything gets a bit sticky and warped. I guess I'm skeptical about toaster ovens after reading so many terrible reviews of different brands and models, but I'm happy so far. I hope this one lasts 15 years like my Black & Decker that just gave out.
5/6/10 Two months later, and we have a small problem. The toaster lever won't stay down anymore if the toast 'doneness' knob isn't turned on just before I try toasting (in other words, I can't just leave it on and set to the shade I want). I'll leave my 4-star rating for now, because it has worked consistently if I start from the off position, then turn the knob on, then toast. But I didn't need to do this before. The oven still works fine and I've had no trouble with slowness, as reported by others. If a cookie recipe says 350 for 9 minutes, that's how long it takes with this oven.

Update 3 months after purchase the lever for the toaster no longer popped back up, even after turning the dial to the cancel position. I contacted Waring and they said I could drive over an hour to their repair center or contact the seller to see if they would replace it. Luckily for me the seller replaced it at no cost to me. The new one works great, I'll update again if this one fails.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, May 4, 2010
This review is from: Waring WTO150 4-Slice Toaster Oven with Built-In 2-Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
I have had this toaster oven for over a month and am very happy with it. Both toaster and oven work great. Toaster has a convenient cancel feature and a button to extend toasting for bagels. The oven has a few different rack settings (which is why the tray does not come out when you open the door) and the broiling tray only fits in the highest position. The price is fair, but I have seen the same item at a similar price at other sites and stores. Although with free shipping and the fact that I received the toaster within 2 days, I would recommend ordering here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-designed toaster/oven, September 19, 2010

I bought this to replace a Black & Decker over-priced fiasco that quit working after about two years. I don't need my toaster oven to be a convection oven. I don't need digital displays to go bad. I just need a simple toaster/oven that toasts evenly, reheats leftovers, looks good on my countertop and is simple to operate. The Waring Pro meets all my needs and I hope it continues to work this beautifully for years. I like the old-fashioned dials, especially compared to the push-buttons on the B&D I had - it's labels rubbed off after a little use so anyone unfamiliar with it couldn't tell what function the buttons initiated. With the dials, one's fingers do not come in contact with the labels. I like the look of the stainless steel exterior and I like that the interior is not coated with non-stick poisons. The oven space is relatively small, which is not a problem for me, but could be for some. My husband likes the toaster slots for toasting English muffins and I prefer the oven for toasting my Ezekiel bread - both work just fine. I don't see how I could fit 4 slices in the oven as the description states, but I only need to fit 2 at a time, so, again, no complaints.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waring Pro WTO150 toaster oven with built-in 2-slice toaster, March 19, 2010
This review is from: Waring WTO150 4-Slice Toaster Oven with Built-In 2-Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
This product broke within two weeks -- the pop-up toaster made a hissing sound and then simply stopped working. After the hissing sound, the toaster handle would not stay down in order to begin toasting. Piece of junk. Toaster mechanism felt really flimsy in use. I returned it for refund.

We use this 1-2 times a day. He likes the Oven side and I prefer the popup side. It's compact and easy on the eyes. The only complaint is that the handle sticking off the front of the oven door is a smidge too long. This means that if the oven is set back on the counter top the door cannot open far enough for the spring to catch and stay open. If you move it forward so the door handle doesn't hit the counter top then you can open and leave open the over side door. Maybe if it was elevated slightly this would alleviate this small issue. It doesn't affect me as I don't need the oven door open for long, if at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toaster/oven combo!, August 19, 2010

We finally tired of toasting (and burning) our bread under the broiler in our full-size oven...so we found this toaster and ordered it. We've had it about 2 weeks and really love it. It toasts perfectly and bakes very well. Plus it is great for summer when it's just too hot to bake in a regular oven. This one cooks well without heating up the whole kitchen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good points and Bad points, March 17, 2010
This review is from: Waring WTO150 4-Slice Toaster Oven with Built-In 2-Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
This product makes good toast and the broiling and baking options are all wonderful. I was surprised at how long it takes to accomplish each of those tasks but it does a wonderful job. What I really don't like is how the pans don't fit the oven and how the rack does not come out when the door opens like many of the better ovens do. However, I purchased this product online from a company named Ira Wood & Sons, Inc. and they refused to allow me to return it because it had the potential to come into contact with food. A policy that I was not familiar with beforehand but am thoroughly familiar with now! I don't think I would have kept this oven if I could have returned it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Waring PRO WTO150 Toaster Oven, August 16, 2011

After reading all the reviews, I decided to take a chance on this. It is quite big, but I have the space and that's ok with me. My major disappointment is the broiler. No way can you broil anything in this machine. You are basically baking at high heat, but no browning seems to occur. At first I thought I wasn't using it properly, so I decided to give it a chance (as well as giving myself a chance to learn my way around using it) So far there has been little improvement.

If you don't broil that much, it might be ok. The machine is quite sturdy and heavy duty. But it is also unnecessarily complicated to operate. For example, if you wish to use the toaster slots, you have to have the rack in the oven compartment in a certain configuration. what's up with that?!? But if I could get the broiler to actually broil, I'd have been happy enough. Since having a broiler that doesn't heat up the whole kitchen in the summer was my primary reason for buying this item in the first place, I'm not happy.

Also the toaster is already becoming uneven after less than 6 weeks.

All in all, if I weren't in the midst of some major renovations, I would have returned this already. I just don't have the mental energy right now so I'm stuck with it. I decided to send this review along because I've really appreciated everyone else who takes the time to send in their reviews, so I figured I owed it to everyone to take my turn.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST LOOKING ONE TOO, June 14, 2010
This review is from: Waring WTO150 4-Slice Toaster Oven with Built-In 2-Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
As I only bought this oven yesterday I'm happy to read all the other reviews which indicate I made a good (instinctive) choice. But no one mentions the WTO150L is also by far the MOST STYLISH (one I saw on my research expedition to various Las Vegas stores). Its exterior is wonderfully free of any ugly corners or changes of material to make a utilitarian table-top unit look flashy and expensive (Cusinard). It was also the only one I saw finished in brushed stainless steel - which looks as if it will remain smart and hygienic for years to come.

As others have said combining 2 units in one simple shape was a genius decision. Suggesting it was designed for Waring by an admirer of the Dessau Bauhaus Style. As this cute little oven could well have come from the mind of Marcel Breuer.
